Barry's pov
Some people would be happy if their sibling was missing. They finally get some peace and quiet and maybe a little rest. Not me. I haven't slept in the thirty-seven hours and twenty-three minutes that my little sister had been missing. Neither have my parents.
"You said that your daughter likes to go out with her friends. Is it possible that Violet is just hanging out with friends and they forgot to call or text?" Officer Marcus asks my parents.
"That's so stupid? They've been out for over a day and forgot to call?" I demand, angry.
"Barry, sit down," mum says gently. I huff and plop back down in my seat, my head resting on my hands.
"As I was saying, teenagers are very irresponsible like that. But if Barry is so sure that's not the case, what about her running away from home?" He continues. I go to cut in but dad catches my eye and gives me a stern look, daring me to talk again. I grit my teeth together in annoyance.
"That doesn't sound like Violet," dad starts, unsure.
"You all are still pretty famous, even after all these years. Even more so now that 5 Seconds of Summer is going back on tour. What if she got tired of the spotlight?" Officer Marcus suggests. My mum and dad pause to think. That's when I lost my temper.
"You two can't seriously be considering this bullshit! Violet would never run away! You both know how much she likes to be in the spotlight! She makes a point of posing silly for the paps!" I argue, jumping out of my chair again.
"Barry, go upstairs to your room. We're trying to talk. I know that you're mad, but you don't need to yell," mum snaps. She had bags under her eyes. She obviously hadn't been sleeping very good since Violet's disappearance either. But unlike her, I managed to keep my head on straight.
"Fine. Send away the only person who seems to remember her," I say bitterly as I storm away from the table, my hands clenched into fists.
I made sure to slam my bedroom door as loud as I possibly could when I got to my room. Then I flop onto my bed, sulking. Violet was taken and I know it. No one else seems to want to face the truth.
"Hey Bear," Cassidy says softly, climbing through my window.
"Hey Cass," I mumble, sitting up, "what's up?"
"How's the talk doing with the cop?" She questions, giving me a sympathetic look.
I snort, "My parents seemed to have forgotten everything about Violet. He's trying to convince them that she ran away." Cassidy makes a sour face.
"Are they not listening to you?" She asks.
I nod, "Adults never do. Anyways, we're supposed to be meeting Jasper, Piper, and Carter at Uncle Ashton's place. We have to sneak out the window though because my parents have me under house lock down since Violet went missing."
Cassidy nods, "Let's go." I follow her out my bedroom window.
