Barry's pov
You know how people always say that times seemed to slow down when something dramatic happens? Like if you watched someone shoot your loved one or if you were reunited with your significant other after a long time? I'll go ahead and admit it. I never actually believed that happened. People were just being over dramatic. But when my parents were pulling up, time did slow down. I could feel my heart rate speed up. I don't know how I remembered to breathe. The only thing I could hear was my heartbeat pounding in my eardrums.
The cars eventually stop and the six adults climb out of the car quickly. All of us just stand there for a moment, scared that it might be a dream. Then we rushed forward. Well, everyone else rushed forward. Michael and Cassidy reached each other first. Then Jasper and Ashton. Brielle grabbed both Carter and Piper and held them tightly while Luke hugged all three of them. I watch sadly as my parents run up to Violet, holding her tightly. She hugs them back, a few tears running down her cheeks. I smile sadly and turn away. I start to walk into the forrest that surrounded the hotel.
"Barry Hood!" A familiar voice calls. I turn around and see my mum standing there, her hands on her hips. I freeze, my gaze locked on her. I prepare myself for the lecture to start.
"Where do you think you're going, mister?" She asks, blinking rapidly. I couldn't seem to find my words. Neither of us move.
"Come here baby," mum says softly, opening her arms. I rush forward into warm embrace, clinging to her tightly.
"I'm sorry, mum," I apologize, my head buried in her neck.
"It's alright, Barry. I'm not mad at you," she tells me.
I take a step back and look at her curiously, "You aren't?"
Mum laughs, "No. But don't you ever dare trying running away again. I'll hunt you down and kill you. This time I'll only ground you."
"But mum!" I whine, "I found Violet!" She just laughs again and pulls me into another hug.
"I found them, dad," Violet calls, running up to me and mum. Dad appears behind her jogging over. I lower my gaze.
"Don't you ever scare us like that again, Barry!" Dad scolds, holding my tight. I nod, my throat hoarse. I was going to cry if I said anything else.
"Promise," I manage to choke out, blinking like crazy. Dad lets go of me and I back up so that I'm standing beside Violet. Mum and dad look at us both.
"I can't believe you two are actually right here in front of us," mum gasps out, pulling us both into a hug again.
"Calm down, mum. We're both fine," Violet assures her.
"I know. Now let's go back with the others," she instructs, grabbing dad's hand. Violet goes running up ahead of us, probably trying to run off some of her excess energy. I allow myself to fall slightly behind, taking in what we'd all been through.
Piper, Cassidy, Carter, Jasper, and I had hurt our parents by being disobedient and running away. But if it wasn't for us, Violet might not be alive right now. I guess sometimes, disobedience pays off in the end.
