Fifty Three Returns

6pm LA, California

No one wasted a minute to enjoy themselves. Even Bubble was having a great time. At a certain point, Mark was constantly checking the time. Jack saw him glance at the clock a few times but thought nothing of it.

"Oh hey its almost noon." Matt told Mark. "Yeah I know. Do you think he'll like it?"

"It's the best spot in town. I'm sure he will."

Mark took a deep breath and walked over to Jack who was laughing and conversating with everyone else. "Hey Jack." He called. Jack turned to him with a smile. "Hey Marky! What's up?"

The others checked the time and knew what Mark was doing. "There is one more part to this surprise that I want to show you." He took him by the hand. Jack chuckled. "What are you up to?"

"Well come on and I'll show ya." He led him in the house and to the front door. Mark told him to close his eyes and he did so. "Where are you taking me?"

"If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise now would it?" Mark smiled.

He guided Jack over to the hill he'd been looking for. He led him up the hill to the very top. He let out a breath. "Open them."

Jack opened his eyes as told. He gasped and looked in front of him. The sunset was at its finest and within the grass lied dozens and dozens of blue bonnets, fireflies fluttering around them.

"Mark it's beautiful!" Jack clasped his hands together, intertwining his fingers. "You didn't have to do any of this."

"But I wanted to." Mark put his arms around his waste from behind. "I don't deserve it..."

"In my eyes you do...in fact, you deserve so much more...I know in text all we do is mess and joke around, but...now that I'm with you again, all I want to do is tell you how much I love you..."

It touched his heart to have heard that. No one's cared for him in such a passionate way before. That did something special for him without having to ask. He couldn't ask for anyone better.

He clutched the bracelet Mark had made for him on his wrist. He never wanted the moment to end.

Then suddenly, there was a loud noise and the sound of running towards them. They both turned and Jack smiled. "Lego! Chica!" Mark let Jack go and they both knelt down to pet them.

"Oh my goodness, where have you two been???" Jack asked as they licked their faces. "I sure hope ya didn't try any shit cause if you did, you'll be a dead pup, yes you will!" Mark said to Lego in a babyish way.

Jack laughed. "Don't worry he doesn't mean it." He told Lego. Mark smiled. "Weird how they showed up at this exact moment."

"The luck of the Irish never fails!" Jack joked as he and Mark sat down next to them. They were hand in hand with an arm around either one of the dogs. Jack put his head on Mark's shoulder.

"Mark?"

"Hm?"

"You're the best."

Mark chuckled and kissed the top of his head. "I love you."

"I love you too."

It was around 8pm when they finally went home. Jack had fallen asleep and Mark carried him the whole way home. Lego and Chica walked home with him. As soon as they came through the door, Ryan's face lit up.

"You found them!!" He said as Lego ran up to him. "Actually they found us." Mark closed the door with his foot. "Oh thank goodness. I see Jack's worn out."

"Yup. I see everyone else is too." He said, seeing everyone else asleep either on the floor or on the couch. "Guess that competition will have to wait till tomorrow." Ryan smirked.

Mark blushed. "Shut up dude." He took Jack up to their room and set him on the bed. He kissed his cheek. "Sweet dreams, duckling."

Jack smiled subtly as he left the room.
