Preview of Season 3 Part 2
Episode 5
When I looked at Rick, he wasn't doing so good. Daryl and Maggie then left to get baby formula. Rick grabbed his ax and went back in the prison, probably to blow off some steam from what happened. I handed the new member of the Grimes family to Carl.
"She's beautiful," I said, wiping a tear from my eye.
"Like her mother," Carl added.
"I didn't want to say that. I didn't want to make you any more sad than you are now about her," I replied.
"I appreciate that, but we face death almost everyday. Plus, I'm a big brother," Carl said, smiling weakly.
He was happy about the baby, but sad about Lori. I can understand that. I hugged him gently so I didn't crush the baby. She was so tiny and adorable. We hung out and tried to comfort her the best we could until Daryl and Maggie came back. During the day, Beth kept an eye on us.
That night, they came back and we handed her to Daryl to feed her. Who knew he was so good with kids? Even though we didn't pick out a name yet, Daryl gave her the nickname "Lil' Ass Kicker". No one knew where Rick was and I was starting to get worried.
The next morning, I saw Daryl put a Cherokee rose on Carol's grave. I was still nervous that she didn't make it, but like with Andrea, I had hope.
Episode 6
Everybody was pretty quiet at the dinner table until Rick came back. Carl and I looked at him with worry and confusion. It didn't take long for him to leave again for us to eat alone. He hasn't even officially met his daughter yet. Later on, Hershel went to go check on him. I hate to say it, but I think Rick's lost his mind.
Then Oscar, Daryl, Carl, and I went to scout the area while Daryl told us a story about his mom. Carl confessed about having to put Lori down. When we took out another walker, Daryl spotted something familiar; Carol's knife. We headed back while Daryl continued the search. When Rick came back, he finally met his daughter and I cried tears of joy. Carl hugged me as he smiled at his dad.
Glenn and Maggie went on another run for formula. But the weird part of it was they didn't come back. The one who came back was this woman who had a sword and the baby formula. She was covered in walker guts with a wound on her thigh and along the fence with the other walkers. Rick was the first to see her when we were outside. Who is this woman and why did she bring us this stuff?
Episode 7
Glenn and Maggie still haven't come back. But we also have to know who this woman is. She and Rick stared at each other for a minute. Then she started fighting off the walkers. We wanted to help her since she was in pain. Walkers were about to eat her when Carl and I shot the walkers. Rick got her and brought her in. We helped her in the cafeteria. But when Daryl came in, he said we had to see something. We walked with him and saw Carol. Rick hugged her, then Hershel, she even met the new baby. She found out Lori was dead, but she seemed to be okay otherwise.
Rick, Daryl, and Hershel went to ask the woman with the sword how she found us. She said that Glenn and Maggie were taken by someone who shot her. While Hershel was fixing her leg, Carl and I went inside. She thanked him and I went up to them.
"Hi. I'm Jamie and this is Carl. What's your name?" I asked calmly.
She hesitated for a minute then told me to come here.
I went up to her and she whispered, "Michonne."
She then had to leave with Rick and some of the others to rescue Maggie and Glenn from this place called Woodbury. Before they left, Carl told Rick he wanted to name his sister Judith, after our third grade teacher, Mrs. Meeler. Carl was going to keep us safe and I knew he was going to do a great job. When we went back, I went up to Hershel.
"Hey Hershel, can I ask you something?" I asked.
"Sure. What do you want to talk about?" he wondered.
"Well, I've been thinking. Ever since Carl told me to talk to you about this, I thought I should do it. Back before the world belonged to the walkers, I had this childhood dream of being a nurse. And even though you're a veterinarian, you still count as a doctor. Do you think you can teach me some medical stuff? I want to help people; I mean, I know I can't help if they've been bitten or scratched by walkers, but if they got sick, I want to give them a second chance to live so their chances of becoming the undead are less likely to happen. Can you teach me?" I explained.
He paused to process what I said then answered, "The more hands we have, the better. It's not just the people who shoot guns and keep us protected that are important. It's also the ones who help when hard times come on us. I can teach you the basics and maybe even some procedures. I can teach you now if you'd like."
"Yeah, that would be great," I smiled excitedly.
We got to work immediately and I loved gathering all this new information. We decided to do a one hour session everyday. Once nightfall hit, I was nervous about how the others hadn't come back yet. Where could they be?
Episode 8
Rick and the others still haven't been back, but I try not to worry about it. I took notes from what Hershel taught me while I was with Carl, Beth, Axel, and Judith. When Carol got Axel, we continued to talk.
"What are you doing, Jamie?" Beth asked, rocking Judith.
"Your dad is teaching me how to be a nurse, so I'm writing notes on everything he's taught me so far," I answered.
"So you took my advice I see," Carl smirked, lightly punching my shoulder.
"Yeah. I want to give people a second chance at life. Not like if they get bitten or scratched in a place that can't be removed, but if it means they can live and I've made a difference in this hell, then it's worth it," I explained.
We talked more and as it got later, we heard screams. Carl and I went to go check it out and we found five people fighting more walkers. We led them in a cell block near us. One of the girls died and Carl offered to help them. We locked them in the cafeteria, but the way they took being locked in there wasn't all that great. We had to wait for Rick to come back to tell him what happened.
I continued doing my notes in my cell until a familiar figure with a sheriff's hat on his head sat beside me.
"More notes?" Carl asked.
"Yeah. This knowledge is addicting," I replied.
"Well, do you think we can talk?" Carl wondered.
"We are, but I know what you mean, so sure," I joked, putting the notes down, then said, "So, what did you wanna talk about?"
"About us," he answered, held my hands, then explained, "I want us to be something more and you told me back at the farm when I got shot how you felt. And even though it's been a few months and we've lost mom, things can get better."
He caressed my cheek and I placed my hand on his as I nuzzled into it.
"There's just one thing I want to do first," he continued.
I looked at him and he started leaning in. I did the same and just as our lips about touched, Carol walked in, saying lights out. We cleared our throats and Carl went up to his bunk. When she left, I stood on my bed to face Carl.
"To be continued?" I smirked.
"Yeah," he smiled.
I kissed his cheek and we went to sleep. I was still a little stunned that we almost kissed, but it still hasn't happened yet. I want it to so badly, but I wanna talk to Rick about it before we can.
