Chapter 18: A Definite Change

Season 6 Part 1

Episode 1

Rick took some members in our group and some of the Alexandrians to this cliff where there was a horde of walkers. But I couldn't help but think of everything that happened since Reg and Pete died. The only positive things were that Glenn and Nicholas came home safely and Tara finally woke up.

Carl and I went to hang out with Enid on the roof after what went down. I was still devastated about not being able to help Reg; Carl sensed it and put his arm around me to comfort me, even Enid hugged me, which I gladly returned.

I finally understood what Morgan lives by now; he was saying that all life is precious, but I can honestly say that he's wrong. There are people that need to be killed if they're a threat. Rick proved it that night when he killed Pete.

Ron was almost always on edge; he wouldn't hang out with any of us anymore. He even went over the walls to see where his dad's body was buried, I guess.

Back at our house, there was a meeting to take out all of the walkers, but Carl and I were taking care of Judith at the time. I played with her while Carl watched me. When she smiled, we both did too.

"How do you know this stuff? Did you also have a little sister?" Carl asked.

"Yes, but she was like two years younger than me. I would sometimes help with the nursery in my church. I don't like to brag or nothing, but I'm pretty good with kids," I answered, flipping my hair at the end like a priss.

"Alright, Ms. Smarty-Pants," Carl smirked.

I scoffed playfully, took his hat, and messed his hair up. He just laughed.

"I would do other stuff, but I'm too tired to. So you got lucky," I said.

He then replied, "To change the subject, when you said that you love me as if I were your husband, you need to know that I love you as if you were my wife."

"Are you proposing to me?" I smirked.

He chuckled as he answered, "Not yet. But I want to some time. When we're old enough to."

"Understandable," I said.

Then after they set up the plan the next day, that's when they were off the day after that. Who knew what trouble we're going to be in.

Episode 2

During the time they were on the run, I went to teach the new doctor, Denise, how to help with things (and I even left her my notebook and medical books) then to hang out with Enid a little bit. Carl went out with Judith for a while, so I thought about having some girl time with her. We told each other what happened to us since the apocalypse started. She lost her parents and wherever she went, she wrote the letters "JSS". She never told me what that meant, but if she didn't want to, she didn't have to.

"So, Carl and you went to the same school and you bonded through this world?" Enid asked.

"Yeah. At school, we would see each other in the hallways and we knew each other's first names, but we didn't really talk. I went to this hospital near Atlanta for my surgery and when I woke up, I met Rick and later on, I met his family. Every moment with Carl is just so precious to me," I explained.

I saw Carl, pushing Judith in the stroller. Ron came up to us and hugged Enid. Then we heard some screams and Enid and I ran to the armory to grab our weapons. I knew Carl had his gun and Carol told him to stay to protect Judith. We went to our house, but when we arrived, Carl was ready with his gun. He lowered it and kissed me. Enid said she was planning on leaving, but we didn't want her to. We all sat back to back to make sure no one took us by surprise. Then we heard a horn go off. It went off after a while, but people were still dying. We saw Ron being chased by this guy with a "W" on his head. Carl shot him in the leg and when that guy attacked him, I ran and stabbed him through the chest with my machete. Carl offered for Ron to come in so he could be safe, but he said no. He ran off and we went back inside.

It took a while, but finally, it was over. But when Carl left to check on Judith, Enid tried to leave.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"I have to leave and you're not going to stop me," she answered.

"How do you know I won't try?" I challenged.

She looked at me and we got in fighting stances. We fought until she threw me down. I heard her say that she was sorry and left a note on me then everything went black.

I woke up to see Carl above me. He hugged me and asked what happened.

"Enid knows how to take me down, that's what happened," I answered.

He showed me the note that said, "Just Survive Somehow". The "JSS" makes sense now, but Enid leaving doesn't. Carl got this casserole out of the oven after the timer went off and tended to my injuries. This was one crazy day.

Episode 3

The others still haven't made it back home yet. I thought about it while I changed Judith's diaper. When I finished, I picked her up.

"You wanna go see what your big brother is up to?" I said in a baby voice.

She smiled as if to answer my question. I laughed and we went downstairs to see Carl on the couch. I sat by him and he smiled when he saw us.

"Hey babe. What's up?" he asked.

"Judith wanted to see you after I changed her diaper. Literally, I asked her if she wanted to see you and she smiled so big," I answered.

He chuckled and took Judith from my arms. He kissed her cheek then mine. I leaned on his shoulder as he held Judith.

"You worried about the others?" Carl wondered.

"You know it. I always do even when I know they can take care of themselves," I answered.

He got his keychain out and I did too after him then he said, "It's okay to worry."

I smiled and kissed him until Judith started whimpering.

"I think someone's a little jealous," I teased.

We laughed and gave Judith our undivided attention until we put her down for a nap. We waited for the others still as we just hung out for the time being.

Episode 4

Morgan hasn't told us about how he changed his perspective on this world. From what I remember, he wasn't right in the head. I mean, before he knew it was me and Rick, he tried to kill us then commanded me to kill him. He said a friend taught him how to use a bō staff, but I'm also guessing he taught him that all life is precious. Rick and I have told him that he's wrong, but he insists that he's right. There are the cases where you need to kill someone because if they're a threat and you let them live, they could come back and get someone you love killed. It's just common sense, at least what common sense means in this world we live in now. My guess is that he did kill people and he wanted to kill that guy he mentioned, but he changed his mind as life went on. I really hope that he knows what he's doing, but he needs to know that Rick's way of handling things is the way to go.

A/N Leading the walkers away and fending off the people who attacked Alexandria are not a walk in the park. I think we all know that.
