I wrote this Freshman year so 😂

Btw, I'm not sure if one would even consider this a spin off. However, a few details are different and a new scene is included within this.

Interesting Fact: Leigh-Ann actually started off as an African American character, but since this is a fanfiction and I usually write using Jiley, Miley replaced her. I hope that doesn't change your outlook on this story.

Distance Between Us

DBU Mini Spin Off

All they did was argue. They were two different people yet, they were exactly the same. They hated each other yet, they loved each other so much more. One day they were completely happy; love filled the air. The next day they had tension. When you keep going back and forth like they did you'll chose between love and hatred. Sometimes, you don't have the option because; everything tends to happen so quickly. Words were said, neither one will know if the hurtful words were true because; if they were then there was no chance of the two getting back together. This was bound to happen however, even though the two ran back to each other multiple times. Well, she ran back to him so many times while, he simply waited on her arrival. This time however will be different. She won't come back because, this time Justin isn't worth coming back to.

Silence filled the room as the two best friends sipped their beers. Leigh-Ann removed the bottle from her lips and began to fiddle with the bottle. Harry removed the bottle from his pink heart shaped lips and sighed, looking around the loft in which the two shared.

"This is no fun is it, love?" Harry coughed his voice slightly raspy. Leigh-Ann continued to fiddle with the rim of the rum bottle, avoiding Harry's light bluish green eyes. Her lips began to create a thin line as she harshly swallowed the lump in her throat.

"No not at all." She whispered, closing her eyes and pushing herself further into the sofa. Harry nodded and removed himself from the leather sofa his half empty beer still in his hand.

"Stand up, Ann. We need to get out of here." He offered, holding out his awkwardly large hand for her to take.

"No, that's the thing Harry." She declined, staring at his open hand "You want me to get my mind off of the situation. That only helps for a while. You need to let me sit here and think about it so I won't have to think about it tomorrow. I'm not depressed, I'm fine. I'm perfectly fine. It's just going to take me a while to get over him completely. I know you're just trying to help me but, I'd like a few minutes to myself if that's not too much to ask of you." Ann responded, her voice rising throughout the short speech she gave. Harry stared Leigh-Ann down for a second, his lips slightly parted. He thought of how to respond but, he simply couldn't. He found himself speechless so, closed his mouth quickly. Not knowing what to say and being the friend he is, he nodded and jogged upstairs to the open layout bedroom.

After a few hours Harry noticed Ann was still in the same position she was in before he left her side. Slightly, irritated by his depressed friend he grabbed his phone and wallet from off the king sized bed, jogged down the stairs and walked over to Ann, kneeling down.

"Ann?" He whispered, removing the beer from her hands replacing it with his. Ann didn't move an inch nor did she blink until Harry rubbed his thumb over her coco like skin.

"Yes?" She asked blinking slowly.

"I know you don't want to get up but, I think we should go to Johnny's. That was all he had to say to make her get up.

Leigh-Ann held onto Harry's cold hand loosely as they ran across the busy street. The five o'clock traffic slowly began to making it almost impossible to find a cab.

"Are you okay?" Harry asked, his voice cracking slightly as the cold like breeze cut his face like a knife.

"Well, I'm breathing so, I assume I'm fine." Ann bluntly stated as they approached Johnny's. Johnny's was a local coffee shop that Leigh-Ann would perform in on "Poetry Night". Even though Ann hated coffee with a passion Johnny's was the first place that made her feel like herself after the breakup. It was almost like the closure she never got.

The warm air welcomed Harry and Ann. The two quickly darted to their usual spot in the back of the shop. Sitting down Leigh removed her scarf and trench like coat.

"You're not going to remove your hat?" Harry questioned, his eyes daggering into her coco skin as he removed his outerwear.

"No, not this time." She replied, looking up from her folded hands and smiling slightly. She began to lean back in the leather like chair .Harry licked his pink lips and nodded.

"Large hot chocolate, no whip cream, and extra marshmallows?" Harry asked after a few seconds. Ann looked over and nodded giving a somewhat real smile. "Don't forget the vanilla fudge cubes."

"I wouldn't dare." Harry winked stalking towards the counter. As Harry walked off Leigh-Ann's phone began to vibrate, indicating that she had a new message. Huffing Ann grabbed her satchel and began searching for device. Her heart stopped and a lump abruptly formed in her throat.

'I miss you.' The message read. Ann's breaths began to shorten. She felt like the room and the people around her were closing in. Her heart was ready to jump out of her chest and soon enough everything became a blur.

"I love you, Justin." I said, looking straight into the camera, my eyes red and puffy. He stared back for a few minutes, not saying anything.

"Yeah, sure you do." He chuckled, shaking his head. From what I could tell he looked irritated, he seemed irritated, he was irritated.

"I do. What happened to 'I can't wait to change your last name to mine'?" I cried, my voice cracking.

"You happened. You played me, after everything we've been through within these last two years. How could you?" He yelled, tears now streaming down silky cheeks. Justin never yelled at me. Even though I didn't do anything that went against us, I see how bad I hurt him from simply having a close guy friend.

"I didn't do anything. I would never hurt you, you know that." I stated, "Why would I risk two years Justin? Two years. Why would I waste two years off my life with someone I don't plan to spend the rest of my life with? Does that make sense to you?" I asked, my face hard.  Justin simply chuckled, tears still running down his beautiful face.  I was beyond frustrated. Neither of us knew what to do at this point. Justin wasn't willing to work things out anymore, which was obvious. At this point, I should feel the same but, I don't. I've given up so much to be with him; I can't just give that away but, in order for a relationship to work two have to be involved.

"I'm done Justin. I mean it this time. It's obvious you don't care anymore. If you don't then I shouldn't either." I sobbed, looking away from the camera. "I thought things would be different this time but-" Before I could even finish my sentence the ooVoo call was ended.

A tear ran down Leigh-Ann's cheek, making her realize that she wasn't over Justin at all. She still loved him with everything, nothing could change that. Ann knew that true love would never fade but, she was simply hoping for something to take her out of her misery. She needed something to make her feel content again because, all she did was mope around. Ann hated to admit that Harry was right but, he was. She needed to get over it but, that was easier said than done. Wiping her face, she smiled slightly as Harry strolled over with her large hot chocolate and vanilla fudge cube. Ann looked down, her phone still in her hand and shut it off, ignoring Justin's text. Even though she wanted Justin, she knew the cycle would repeat once again fore, it had so many times before. Justin didn't miss her, he was just having one of his moments. He was simply lonely and so was she but, she knew she wasn't Justin's center of attention anymore. She also knew that she would always be hurt but, the way things ended but, she hoped that one day it wouldn't hurt as much.

"Large hot chocolate, no whipped cream, extra marshmallows, and vanilla fudge cubes." Harry smiled, setting the items onto the table. Ann chuckled and in that moment she knew Justin would always be apart of her but, all she really need was Harry, Johnny's hot chocolate, and vanilla fudge cubes.
