Being a complete and utter jerk to her a few months ago was wrong, truthfully. I knew it and so did she, but I didn't care. Sitting here now, waiting on her to show up made me feel vuneralable. Leigh-Ann was stubborn but I was highly aware she'd do anything for me, whether she was falling in or fell out of love with me. She had to come, there's no way she would stand me up. My bandaged fingers drummed on the wooden table constantly while my eyes roamed the familiar restaurant.
I'd been everywhere since I left Bill's shop that day. I genuinely missed my ex girlfriend. It was hard to come in contact with her considering the fact that she wasn't willing to talk to me at all. Harry was my only option, but he was being too uptight, he never let me talk to her, myself. I was already having a hard enough time getting him to pass a message. My lips parted slightly as I looked over and her figure appeared. Her hair was hidden beneath a burgundy beanie and a quilted leather jacket rested on her upper half, on top of a thin jersey like material hoodie. I smiled slightly and then I let it disappear, I didn't want her to see how her enterence made me feel. I had the urge to stand and scoop her into my arms, but that was inappropriate. She didn't even smiled at me as she came over. That's not the Leigh-Ann I know.
I swallowed the lump in my throat as she slid into the booth. She didn't carry a bag with her or anything so I assume she had Harry bring her. I mentally rolled my eyes at the thought of him. We sat in silence for a long while, no greeting or anything before the same waiter that had greeted me when I first arrived came over.
"Good evening, I'm Emily; I'll be serving you tonight. What can I start you guys off with?" A small girl chirped as she remove a pen from a small waist apron.
"Water with lemons, please." Leigh-Ann stated, making eye contact with the waitress. A small smile was on her face.
"Alright and you sir?" She questioned after scribbling some things down.
"Sweat tea, please."
"Alrighty. I'll be right back with those. I'll also bring out another menu for you, sweetheart." She smiled as she looked at me and then pointed the back of her pen at Leigh-Ann. Leigh-Ann nodded and mumbled a small thanks.
I peeped my watch as the waitress stalked over to retrieve another menu and our drinks. Leigh-Ann was right on time and it shocked me. Leigh-Ann could be petty and although, I knew she had a kind heart I didn't understand why she didn't treat me the same way I treated her that night. Trying to be a gentleman, I slid her my menu. Leigh-Ann looked at the menu and then me. She licked her lips and slid the menu back to me.
I cleared my throat and nodded. Well, then.
"I still lov-" I started, after I regained some confidence.
"I rather not talk about this, it makes me emotional." She claimed as she cut me off. She was fiddling with the chipping wood on the table. Why else would I call you here? I thought. Leigh-Ann and I were definitely capable of talking about any and everything besides our relationship, but still. I wouldn't have called her to this particular location to just talk about anything. I wanted to talk about us, or at least what was left of us. There had to be something left.
"Emotional? You don't even look at me the same." I sighed, fiddling with my bandages.
"What do you want me to say, Justin?" She questioned, no longer playing with the wood.
"Anything." I stated, "God, just say anything. Don't just stare at me."
"I have nothing to say to you." She shrugged, this time staring directly at me. I stared at her hurt. Was she serious?
"Are you being serious, right now?" I questioned, wrinkles defining my face. She huffed before sliding out of the booth.
"This was a mistake. I shouldn't have come." She sighed in disbelief.
"Leigh-Ann." I pleaded.
"I wish you well." She frowned, making eye contact with me once again before turning on her heels and heading out of the restaurant. She passed the waitress while she headed towards the door and Emily's eyes found mine. She sent me a sad smile, not knowing what to do, but she eventual came over as I shook my head and ran a hand through my hair.
"Do you still want to order?" She asked, a menu tucked under her armpit and two glasses in her hands.
"No. I'll pay for the drinks though." I sighed, my throat tightening and my heart racing.
"Don't worry about it, it's on me." She stated.
"Wait, at least take a tip or something." I stated sliding out of the booth and grabbing my wallet from my front pocket. I pulled out a five and handed it to her. She removed a finger from one of the glasses and gladly accepted it.
"Thank you." She smiled.
"No problem." With that I walked passed her and headed out as well. By the time I reached the parking lot, Leigh-Ann was long gone. Just great, I thought as I headed towards my own vehicle.
A/N: Truth be told, this chapter isn't all that. It's short and I apologize for that. I've edited a few chapters from the beginning of this story so if you want to go back and read some minor details, go for it. I'm actually thinking off unpublishing this story for a while so I can go back and fix the plot though, so it's not that serious as of right now. I'm just not too satisfied with this story anymore. I'm not too sure yet.
Anyways, I have a new Jason McCann story out: The Last Standing McCann. Would you guys mind checking it out? I'd seriously appreciate that. Each chapter is over 1,200+ words.
Also, my main story: As Long As You Love Me, is edited and is in the process of reaching chapter 40. I'd appreciate it if you guys checked out that story as well. Thank you!
