As you sit across from Daryl in the tent you both share, you can still see the lasting glow of the fire outside. Small voices of chatter around it float through the air, though you can't tell what they talk about. It was your first real run today, and Daryl offered to take you... As you wouldn't stop asking him. You both came back with some valuble items for the group, like cans of food and a couple blankets for the nearing winter time.
"You're really good out there you know." You say, and he looks up at you. You'd seen him with his crossbow before, hunting and killing for the next meal. But when on his feet surrounded by walkers like you both were today you saw just how good he really was.
"Ain't nothin' special." Daryl mumbles under his breath.
"Well I think you're special." The words just came out, but didn't make them any less true. And what you saw from them was the smallest smile from Daryl.
The first of many to come.
