It's been only hours since you passed and no one was taking it harder than Daryl. And he had good reason, he finally said things to you before you left that made him embarrassed and vulnerable. You said things back, changing the way things would be between the two of you."Daryl." Glenn says, sitting down in front of him on the RV.
"She uh, wanted me to give this to you. If she didn't make it out."
Handing him a small piece of paper, one with smudges of both dirt and dried blood on it. It was only her and Glenn that went out, and Daryl knew that he'd forever have to live with the guilt of not going with.
Silently he takes it and reads as Glenn leaves him be.
"Daryl," Reading over the words it felt as if she herself was there in the RV speaking them. "What I told you before I left on this run you didn't want me having anything to do with, was all true."
Chewing on his thumbnail he continues, "every last word. I feel the way I do about you and you feel the way you do about me."
"I know it's hard for you to express things, but you did good Daryl. You told what you had to and they made me realize just how in love with you I was."
Each word was like a stab to his heart, making him bleed out. She understood the way he was, what made him... Him.
"Don't change."
