Tonight reminded you of how things used to be, the dinner parties and endless conversations with people you met just then or knew for years.
Looking towards the door you notice him, not because he's the only one here that looks unclean and not in somewhat formal wear. But because he looks so out of place.
Walking over to him, your pale yellow dress swaying as you move. "Daryl right?"
Asking he looks up at you, from the glass of wine in his hand. He nods, continuing not to speak.
You want to laugh at how uncomfortable he looks, but choose not to. "You don't go to parties much do you?"
Leaning against the window as he rests his back against the wall he shakes his head. "Ain't my scene."
You'd heard his voice before, only from a distance. But up close there was emotion in it, very light and very hidden... But it was there.
"I never quite liked them myself, yet I always showed up for some reason." You laugh.
He looks at you, listening but watching your eyes dary across the room and your lightly peach stained lips move with each word.
"How do you like it here?" You ask after ending another small comment about yourself.
You watch him swallow, unsure of what to say. You can tell by the look on his face he wasn't fully listening to the question.
You smile, "Do I make you nervous Daryl?"
Asking you lean in a but, watching his eye drop contact with yours. Shaking his head trying to hide the growing red on his cheeks.
"Nah." Lying you know, yet it still makes you smile. The thought that you of all people could make him of all people nervous and uncertain. It felt good, knowing that you could get him to drop that tough guy act... Even for a moment.
