Chapter 2

     Eliza was unpacking her things in her dorm room when there was a knock on the door. Eliza opened the door and was shcoked to see Colin standing on the other side. Eliza had been told that Colin had not talked to another sould at the party besides a few members of the Conspicuous Callers. Colin had also not seen another female while she had been away from school which shocked her. Eliza was confused by what was happening. Colin said, "You are surprised to see me."

     "Yes, actually I am surprised to see you. How did you know that I returned to school? What can I do for you Colin?"

     Colin could not stop staring at Eliza being in her presence again made all the fibers of his body buzz. Colin smiled and said, "One of my friends saw you unloading your car while returning to the Conspicuous Caller house. Does it bother you that I know you are back Eliza? I have actually come to invite you and Penelope to the Conspicuous Callers auction."

     Eliza was again shocked by Colin's honesty but, she played it off by saying, "It is strange that you know that I am back before my friends do but, you have lots of friends who could tell you that I was back so; no I am not bothered by the fact that you know that I am back. We are honored by the invitation but, Penelope is not back yet. I will be glad to accept my invitaion and Penelope's but, I do not know when or if she is coming back."

     Colin took Eliza's right hand into his left, brought it to his lips, and said, "I am sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable Eliza that was not my intention. I look forward to seeing you and Penelope tonight. It will start at six at the house."

     Shivers ran up Eliza's arm and down her spine. She felt as if she had been touched by an angel. Eliza watched as Colin left with a smile on his face. Colin was trying to keep himself from going back to Eliza. Eliza turned into her room shutting the door behind her. She felt the sudden urge to dance so; she changed into tights, a leotard, and put on sneakers. She quickly penned a note to Penelope in case she showed up while she was gone, grabbed her ballet shoes, and ran to the ballet studio. Eliza thanked the powers that be that the studio was open. She slipped off her sneakers, put on her ballet slippers, stretched, went to the stereo, found a song that expressed what she was feeling, and started to dance. Mrs. Campinella, head professor of dance and ballet, heard the music and went to investigate. When she saw Eliza dancing she entered the room to watch. When the song was through and Eliza was done Mrs. Campinella started clapping. Eliza blushed and said, "Sorry Professor Campinella. I should have asked for permission to use the studio."

     "Eliza there is no need to apologize. In all the years I have been a teacher here I have never seen a perfomance so full of emotion. You my dear have just earned a spot in my advanced ballet class." Mrs. Campinella said with a smile. "Your performance in Cinderella was good but, what you just did was perfection. You my dear are going to be a fine candidate for The Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker."

     Eliza blushed profusely and said, "Thank you Professor Campinella."

     "Come let us look at your schedule and fix it so that you can be in the advvanced ballet class. Let us also see if we can get you into another advanced dance class." Mrs. Campinella let Eliza gather her things, turn off the stereo, and follow her to her office.

     By the time Mrs. Campinella had worked out Eliza's schedule it was five o'clock. Eliza ran to her dorm room and burst through the door out of breath. Penelope gapped at Eliza as she threw her stuff in the closet. Eliza turned to her and said, "No time to explain we have to get ready for the Conspicuous Callers auction. Didn't you get my note?"
