                                                          Chapter 7

     The next few days flew by for Eliza. Wednesday evening had approached and Colin was scalding hot to her touch. It seemed like his heat was with her all day because he was so hot. At dinner Colin could see the concern growing on Eliza's face. He hoped that he could make it through dinner without breaking a sweat. Colin was dressed in shorts, polo, and sneakers even though it was about thirty degrees outside. As soon as dinner was over Colin grabbed Eliza's hand, dragged her outside, and into the orchard that was in the back of his house. Colin said breathing hard, "I have wanted to show you this for a while my love. Please do not run or scream." Eliza was about to say something but, stopped when Colin changed into a werewolf. Eliza stood there with her mouth open and her eyes wide.

     Colin nudged Eliza with his head, bringing her back from the shock; Eliza put her hand on the top of his head, stroked her hand through his fur, and said, "This is the secret you have been keeping from me isn't it?" Colin the wolf sat and his head bobbed up and down. "You waited to tell me this until we were alone?" The wolf head bobbed up and down again. "It means a lot to me that you told me your secret. We will talk in the morning." His head bobbed up and down. Colin pushed her with his head toward the edge of the trees and ran off into the orchard. Eliza went back to the house and found Grace waiting for her in her room.

     Grace said, "Come sit with me; let us talk." Eliza sat next to Grace in a chair in front of the fire in her room. Grace asked, "Colin showed you his secret?"

     "Yes, he did Grace."

     "Were you surprised?" Grace asked with a raised eyebrow.

     "A little shocked but, no, not really surprised." Eliza answered with a smile.

     "I know that Colin is planning on talking to you in the morning but, I want to give you some information first. This is not a disease this is something that he will have to deal with for the rest of his life Eliza. I want you to understand this because I had to deal with this myself. Colin's father, may he rest in peace, was a wolf as well. Most of the time it is passed from father to son; but can also be transferred by a bite. Werewolves choose one mate in life and they never stray. Colin will be loyal to you to the very end. They do not age until they find their mate. Colin had been twenty eight for six years. If you have any concerns or fears you need to exit gracefully so that Colin can understand that he will be alone for the rest of his life."

     "Werewolves are very similar to wolves. Grace I love your son and just because he is a wereworlf will not change my feelings about this. I will not leave him. He makes me happy and I have a feeling that I make him happy as well. HOw did you deal with this?"

     "It helped to have friends that were in similar situations. Your friend Penelope will be able to help you and vice-a-versa. Lilly will be able to give you support as well. Lilly is a werewolf and a part of Colin's pack. Werewolves run hotter than normal humans, they change every month, and they will never hurt their mate. If you are with him when he changes he will never hurt you. One of the reasons that we have this property is so that he can freely change without being bothered by others. Colin has been to many universities all of which have forests surrounding them. Please do not let anyone know about this except your Penelope and Lilly. I am sure that she is having a very similar conversation with Beverly, Victor's mother. How is it that you are taking this so well?"

     "I think that I always knew that something was going on with Colin he just did not tell me what it was. I am glad that he has done so. I finally feel like I know everything about him." Eliza said thoughtfully, "You know I kept mentioning that he was running hot and he just sat silently by. Can you explain a little more about the process of how he found me?"

     "I shall try to explain to the best of my ability. When werewolves search for a mate they can search for years not finding their mate. Sometimes they can stay one age for quiet sometime. The longets that I know of has been ten years. When they find their mate they get this uncontrollable urge to tie themselves to their mate. To them it feels like they are on fire around you, they cannot stay away from you long, and your scent is like aphrodisiac. Now that Colin has made you his mate it will be hard for him to be away from you for extended periods of time. that is why I warned you about you leaving him. Since he is the alpha male of the pack he has responsibilities to the pack. He has not fully marked you as his yet."

     "What do you mean fully marked me as his?"

     "When a werewolf finds their mate they bite them in human form so they do not change into a werewolf but, it will be a mark that you bare forever." Grace said showing Eliza her shoulder. "It does not hurt it just binds you closer to Colin. You will be able to hear his thoughts when he is in wolf form. I should also warn you that they are very virile creatures. This gene can also be passed onto females born into a family. Sometimes it does not get passed onto females born into a family. Sometimes it does not get passed onto females but it can. Colin will be able to tell you more about it then I can. I learned most of this from my husband. Colin had to take on the Alpha male role sooner than his father would have liked him too but, he isa a good, strong leader and he will not let you down."

     "Grace I will promise you here and now that I will never abandon Colin for any reason. I love him and I want to marry him. I do not think that I could survive without him."

     "My dear Eliza you need to tell Colin that. Tell him exactly what you just told me. I welcome you into our family. Now, get some sleep and I will see you tomorrow for breakfast." Grace stood up, hugged Eliza, and left.

     Eliza grabbed her journal and wrote. This was her longest journal entry to date. She tried to make the facts vaugue and convoluted just in case someone tried to take her journal. Eliza was excited about tomorrows' conversation with Colin. She grabbed a pair of pajama's, went to the bathroom, took a long, relaxing bath, and then went to bed.
