Flashback

(Y/N) POV

"Hey babe what do you want to do today?" I asked my friend Evan. We joke around alot by calling each other "babe" or "sweetheart." Even though I wish we were more than that.

I've liked Evan since the fourth grade and everytime I see him with one of his girlfriends it breaks my heart piece by piece.

"I'm going to go see Lucy in a couple minutes." He responded while on the phone.

"Oh okay." Lucy is his current girlfriend. I like her least out of all his girlfriends.

My reason? Because when ever Evan is out of the room or not looking she mouths words such as "slut" or "whore." One time she threatened to kick me out of Evan and I's apartment if I didn't leave the house immediately so they could fuck.

But every time I try to tell Evan he brushes me off.

"Well I'm going to go to the store to pick up some groceries!" I said while grabbing my purse and keys.

"Okay." He replied as I walked out of the apartment and down the stairs to the lobby.

"Good morning Ms. (L/Y)!" The doorman said. I nodded in acknowledgement and smiled.

As I made my way down the road to the store I heard muffled noises coming from the alleyway that I was passing.

I quietly walked down the alley and looked at a dumpster to see a man and woman making out. As my eyes adjusted to the dark I noticed the females face.

It was Lucy...

I quickly pulled out my phone and took a picture before running to the apartment.

As I walked in Evan looked up at me quizzically.

"What are you doing here? I thought you went to get groceries." He said. I took his hand in mine and sat him down on the couch.

"Well I was but I saw something Evan." I started. He nodded at me and I continued.

"I, uh, saw Lucy with another guy." I whispered. He looked at me in disbelief before laughing.

"Your funny (Y/N)." He said while laughing.

"I'm serious I-" I got cut of by Evan standing up and glaring at me.

"Lucy would never cheat on my (Y/N)! It seems to me as though your jealous." He said with an icy tone in his voice.

"I'm not lying Evan! I have proof!" I say while pulling my phone out of my pocket. He slaps it out of my hand and it shatters against the ground.

"Listen here bitch. Lucy would never cheat on me. Now pack your things and get out!" He growled at me. Tears welled up in my eyes and I ran to my room.

Evans POV

(Y/N) ran to her room crying. I've never seen her cry before.

The front door opened and closed. I turned around to see Lucy walk in with a sour expression on her face.

"Hey babe." I said while hugging her. Lucy pushed me away roughly.

"I'm breaking up with you." She spat. I was shocked. Why? We've been so good these past few weeks.

"Why?" I ask.

"I found someone better than you!" She said before walking out of the apartment.

(Y/ N) was right all along.

I walked down the hallway to her room and heard crying.

Opening the door slowly I whispered "(Y/N) I'm sorry I didn't listen to you. You were right."

As I walked into the room (Y/N) was holding a razor in her hand and blood dripped from her arms.

"What did you do to yourself!" I shouted as I ran to her.

"Evan... I'm leaving now. But I want you to know that..."

"That what!" I yelled. She took a deep breath in and out before continuing.

"I've always liked you Evan. Since the fourth grade. You've never felt the same and everytime I saw you with another girl it broke my heart. And this last time... when you yelled at me... I couldn't take it anymore. I had to do something. This pain I've been feeling on the inside was to much to bear. Unbearable." She said while getting quieter.

Suddenly she grabbed my cheeks and kissed me softly. I was paralyzed.

She sighed and layed her head on her pillow.

"I had to do that at least once." She said. I grabbed her head and smashed my lips against her. This is what I've been missing. This is who I'm supposed to be with. I've just been to blind to notice it before. But it won't last. She's dying.

"I'm so sorry (Y/N). Now go to sleep." I say softly before resting her head on her pillow. She smiles softly before closing her eyes. And then her breathing stops.

(Present day)

I sat in the very back of the church. Tears streamed down my face as I watched them carry her casket out of the church.

I slowly exited the building and hopped into my car before driving to the cemetery where they would bury her.

Where they would bury her so no one would be able to see her ever again.

As I was driving I looked over to the side of the road and saw a woman in white running in front of my car. It was to late and I hit her. Or... went through her. I looked in the mirror to see her waving at me. Then it hit me...

It's (Y/N) saying goodbye one last time.
