I heard a knock on my door. I went over to it and opened up. I saw a nice build of a woman who's five inches taller than me.

"Hi." Lauren smiled. "Can we talk?"

"Yeah, sure. Come in." I said as I opened the door wider. She came in and looked around.

"Nice place." She said flatly.

"Thanks." I half-smiled. I don't know how the atmosphere between the two of us has changed, but it actually did.

She kept a straight line on his lips as she turned to me. "I'm here to ask what Brad told you yesterday?"

Does she need to know? Of course not "Nothing important. Why?"

"Really?" Her tone of voice is unusual. It's somehow filled with doubt and mocking. "If it's not important then why would he start to act differently around me since last night? I know that you two talked yesterday and all."

Is she prying between me and Brad? Duh. She's not the girlfriend anymore! "Why ask me when you can ask him?"

She took a deep breath, looked up and down at me again. "I'm not here to fight with you, Kate. But I'd like to remind you that Brad is still mine."

Lauren can be bitchy sometimes.

"Yours?" I scoffed. "I'm the girlfriend, Lauren. I don't wanna fight with you so please."

"Girlfriend, yeah?" She smiled devilishly. "I'm his fiancé." She put up her right hand in the air and showed me a rounded silver on her ring finger.

My mouth fell. And so did my heart. Fiancé?!

"You're joking." I half-laughed at her.

"I wish I was, but no." She shook her head slowly and looked at her ring with love. She walked over to me and looked at me through her long lashes. "Better stay away from him. He's mine."

I swallowed my lump in my throat. "You are lying. Brad told me that he needed me."

She smirked. "Oh that. He needs you to help him to remember, right? Well, that's just it, unfortunately. Nothing more, nothing less. Don't take it too seriously." She chuckled.

I inhaled sharply. Could this be true? A tear escaped my eye as I heard footsteps on my stairs.

"Kate? Brad said– oh. Hi Lauren." Jessica greeted Lauren with a good faking smile. She walked up to me and saw the tear even before I wiped it away.

"Hey. Are you alright? What happened?" Jessica asked sincerely. Her look turned with anger. She looked back at Lauren and meet her in the eyes. "You! What did you do to my bestfriend?!"

"Nothing. I just came here to help her to know her place in Brad's life." She smiled sweetly but sarcastically to us. Especially to me.

"Get out of here, bitch!" Jessica grabbed her in the arm and shoved her out of my house.

I took my phone and called Connor.

"Con?" I called as he picked up. "Will you pick me up please."

"Y-yeah, sure. Why the rush?" Connor asked, confusion in his voice.

"We need to go to Brad." I choked out and hang up on Connor. I went up to my room and dressed myself. I didn't mind putting on make up. What matters to me right now is Brad.

Why would he say those words last night if he's going to marry Lauren?! Why?!

"Kate? Kate–" I stopped Jessica.
