Today has been a lazy day since I have no school, and currently I am laying on the couch, my head resting on Nathan’s lap, as we watch T.V. “You know what I love about you?” I ask him.

“What?” He looks down at me.

“Everything.” I smile. He laughs then shakes his head. I sit up and lean up against him. “No really. I love your voice, your British accent, your smile, your eyes, your love for snapbacks, how much you care, and who can forget your adorable nose?”

“Well I love everything about you to.” He says cheekily. I lean up and kiss him, but we’re soon interrupted by someone clearing their throat. I look around me and spot Jay standing by the kitchen. Jay’s been jumping from house to house, and is currently living with me and Nath, staying in the spare room.

“What do you guys love about me?” He kids and then sits beside us on the couch.

“So how are you Jay?” I ask him. You can tell he doesn’t sleep by the dark circles beneath his eyes, that he’s slowly stopped eating, that his smile’s fake. “Honsetly.”

“Well, better then you, I assume. But truly, I feel like shit. I still can’t believe she would do that…” A tear slips down his cheek.

“I do. She’s always been like that and most likely considering it, she just finally acted on the thought. I’ve done it to, she was just lucky enough to not gotten saved.” Nathan is now upset after I say that.

“But I could’ve helped her, stopped her.” He starts to cry.

“Just think about it like this: she accidently killed her child who existed because she was raped, and then she got pregnant again because she slept with some stranger. She wouldn’t have been able to handle it; she would’ve ended up in a mental hospital. It’s better off that it happened before it got worse.” I hear the front door open and Max soon walks into our living room.

“Hey Maxy.” I smile at him. He just gives me a small shy smile back then goes into the kitchen. “You keep talking to Jay, I’m going to go see what Max is doing.” I kiss Nathan’s cheek then walk into the kitchen to see Max scrounging through our fridge. “Can I help you get something?” He notices I’m here and shakes his head, pulling a beer out of the fridge then going back to the living room.

Nathan comes in and wraps his arms around my waist. “So what did he want?” I slightly push him away so I can get food.

“Not sure, he hasn’t been talking to me lately.” I say as I get a bag of potato chips from the cupboard. “Did I do something? You know, that might’ve upset him or something.”

“Not that I know of, I can check if you want though love.” He snatches the bag from my hand and grabs a handful of chips then shoves them in his mouth, causing crumbs to go everywhere.

“Really Nath?” He just laughs and walks away. My eyes drift to a long sharp knife sitting on the counter, and I slowly inch towards it. I trace the blade with my fingers before picking it up. I bring it down to my wrist and pull it across the already bloody skin.

“Air, what are you doing!?” Max whisper yells, running over to me. He grabs the knife out of my hands and throws it into the sink. He then turns on the tap and wets a cloth with water. He gently dabs on the cut.

“Max, you don’t have to do this.” He throws the bloody cloth out and gets a new dry one then ties it around the wound.

“I know, but we don’t need Nathan knowing, now do we?” He says as he finishes cleaning up the blood. Yea, remember how Nathan let me cut a few days back? Well that’s out the window now. One day he caught me again and totally flipped, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him that mad.

“You know about that?” Max nods then stares at me. “What?” I ask after a few seconds.

“You’re still scared, aren’t you?” He asks me, still staring.

“What? No, what would I be scared about?” My throat becomes dry suddenly making my voice crack.

“Maybe you’re scared that Nathan would hurt you, and then if someone found out that he would hurt you again. You know, the whole terrible childhood experience thing.” He makes himself busy by fiddling with random objects.

“No, that’s behind me. I don’t let stuff like that bother me anymore.” He laughs slightly then says;

“Air, you don’t just get over stuff like that. I can see that you don’t fully trust Nathan, but Nathan can’t notice because he’s too blinded by love. Maybe I am to, but maybe that’s how I noticed.” He goes back into the living room.

I stay in the kitchen, not knowing how to react. His words play over and over again in my mind, maybe I am to, but maybe that’s how I noticed. What’s that supposed to mean? Well, I know he’s right about one thing, I don’t trust Nathan. After I saw how easy he could snap I’ve been pretty afraid, knowing the hidden strengths people unleash when they get mad.

I do like Nathan, a lot, but I just don’t know if he’ good for me anymore. Or the whole dating a famous person thing, or just everything in general. If I die, I can’t get hurt. I think.

I decide on the easiest way to do this, I’ll just take pills. But not right now, later, when no one will be able to stop me. There’s a knock at the door, so I go back into the living room, faking a smile. The boys don’t move from their spots on the couch so I get the door.

Those eyes, that evil grin, the deathly breath, it’s Mike who stands at the door. “Hello, Ariana.” He snickers before shoving me into the house, slamming the door behind him.  Her firmly places his hands around my neck and pushes me up against the door, then pulls something out of his pocket. A gun.

“Hey, get out of here!” Nathan stands up and swings his arm at Mike, which lands at his temple. He doesn’t even move an inch. He puts the barrel of the gun up against my head.

“Touch me one more time and I’ll shoot her now!” Mike yells, and as always he wins the battle. I know they wouldn’t let him shoot me, so they throw up their arms and back away. “Hey pretty boy,” He gestures at Nathan, who is staring at him with hatred. “Are you my Ariana’s boyfriend?”

“She’s not yours!” Nathan spits back at him. Jay try’s to stay un noticed, but Max looks ready to pounce.

“Yea she is. She’s my daughter. As much as you hate to admit it, she is. I’m the only family she has left.” He smiles at me, and I see something in him, the thing I haven’t seen for so many years. Love, warmth, happiness almost. I know he really did love my mother, and she loved him. He was the one who kept her going a little longer.

“Someone who rapes 10 year olds is not family, their pedophiles.” Mas says, his voice slightly rising in anger.

“He’s right; he is my only family left. He was the one who put a roof over my head, gave me food; all he ever wanted was the best for me.” They stare at me, shocked by the words that just left my mouth.

“Hey toots, I can take it from here. Shut up from now on.” I immediately turn off my mouth, if that’s even possible.

“That’s no way to talk to someone.” Tom says, entering the room with Siva. “Now get the hell off of her.” He shoves him away, and the rest of the boys take down their guard and go to help him. Jay runs over to me and pulls me out of the apartment, but not before I catch Nathan, holding the gun in his hands, the barrel pointed straight at Mike.

Ooooooooo, cliff hanger! How was it? From the beginning of my story I wanted to make Arian very innocent and frightened, but she turned into a very snappy, edgy character. It’s not that I didn’t like it, it’s just not what I was planning so I wanted to try and turn her into that scared little girl. Don’t worry, if you liked her edginess, it will still be there, I just need to tweak some things, starting now :) Hope you enjoyed,
