“No Nathan!” I pull my arm out of Jay’s grasp and lunge at Nathan, knocking him down to the ground, causing the gun to fly from his hands.
“What are you doing!?” He screams at me.
“No Nathan, what are you doing? If you were to shoot him, you’d be no better!” He thinks for a second, but it definitely wasn’t positive thinking.
“Get off of me!” He shoves me off of him. I stand up and try to pull him back, but he pushes me off of him. I run in front of him and try to push him back, and he pushes me down to the ground. After he does so he stares at me, shocked of what he just did.
“What’s the matter with you!?” Max shoves Nathan,
“STOP IT!” I yell as loud as possible, and everyone stops.
Mike comes over to me and says, “You know you should’ve never ran away, none of this would’ve happened. Everything would be the way it was.” He kicks my side as hard as possible. “I’ll leave, but I’m coming back for every single one of you. You better make sure they don’t tell anyone, because if they do I promise I will make your life ten times worse than it already is.” He then leaves the apartment, without another word.
I stand up holding my side. “You guys were really too busy fighting with each other to stop him from kicking me?”
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to, I was just,” I cut off Nathan.
“Mad, yea I know. I know what happens when people get angry. Some people are worse then others, and you happen to be one of those people.” He comes closer to me.
“I’m so so sorry, I promise it won’t happen again.” A lie.
You said that last time, is what I want to say. “No, I don’t want to see you, ever again. Don’t try to call me, find out where I am, I don’t even want you to think about me. Okay? Just pretend I never existed. I leave the apartment with nowhere to go, but anywhere is better than there.

“C’mon Air, you got to go to school.” Max whines to me. He has to go to work soon but doesn’t want to leave me alone. I’ve been living on his couch for the past few days, and today he’s making me go back to school.
“No, they’re going to be rude to me. I’m the girl who stomped on Nathan Sykes’ heart, twice.” He stops whatever he was doing and sits down beside me.
“Look Air, it’s going to be okay. Just don’t worry about it.” He stays there then leaves awkwardly. He’s been very un-comfortable around me lately, it’s really weird, actually.
I get up and go to the bathroom. My neck has a light bruise circling it, a big bruise on my side, and a bruise on my spine. My eyes are rimmed by red and have dark circles under them for all of the crying I’ve done. Unfortunately, I have nothing to cover the bruises with, so I just put on a baggy sweater and yoga pants. I leave my hair down so it will hopefully cover the bruise on my neck. I go back into the living room, and I see Max in the kitchen eating breakfast.
“What do you want for breakfast?” He asks me.
“Nothing, I’m not hungry.” I wait for him to finish eating then he drops me off at school. When I enter the school I feel like everyone is watching me. I try to hide my neck, but I feel as though they can see through me.
“Hey Ariana.” A familiar voice says shyly behind me. I turn around to see Stephanie. “I heard about your break up, and I just want you to know I’m still here for you even though you broke Nathan’s heart.”
“I broke his heart? More like her broke mine, and quite literally.” She bites her lip, probably holding in all the nasty things she’s thinking about me.
