Chapter Twenty-Nine
Emma and Lucy listen to the preacher. "You will be missed Brandon Love" the preacher says as the Casket goes into the Earths soil. Emma looks at Lucy who is crying softly she comforts her Hanna whipped her nose her eyes are blood shot red from crying. "It'll be okay" Emma whispers to Hanna and Lucy. People begin to walk down the path to their cars. Emma, Lucy, Hanna, and Brandon's mom can hear a soft cry from a little girl. They all look at the crying girl running to the casket and her mom saying "SARAH COME BACK!".
But she keeps going screaming" BRANDON DONT LEAVE I MISS YOU" she only looks about 9 or 10. Hanna grabs her arms as she tries to run Hanna pulls her close to Brandon's mom and Brandon's mom pulls her to her chest saying "Sarah everything will be alright he is in a better place he is safe and he doesn't want you to be sad" . "NOO LET GO!" she screams her mom takes her from Brandon's moms hands "Sh. Sarah thank you Ellen" she says walking down the row of chairs to the path.
They all get up after Sarah and her mom are out of sight. Hanna whipped the stray years from her face. "Thanks for coming you guys" Hanna says giving a small smile. "Your welcome" Emma and Lucy say. "I'm going home do you want to come with?" Brandon's mom asks. "I think I'll go with Lucy and Emma" Hanna says. "Okay, stay safe drive safe" Brandon's mom calls over her shoulder as her and Jen walk away.
The girls go different directions to their cars. "Ready?" Emma asks as they climb in the car. "Yeah" they sat buckling in their seatbelts. "So. Where did Lucy take you yesterday?" Hanna asks. "To the fireworks" Emma says smiling. "Cool, was it fun?" Hanna asks. "Yeah. We rode on some rides and had a good time" Emma says. She didn't tell her about the guy and the cigarette smoking.
"Glad you guys had fun" Hanna says smiling.
"Want to go to Lucy's or yours?" Emma asks Hanna.
"Lucy's is fine" Hanna says looking out the window.
"Hopefully my dad is gone" Lucy says.
"Why would you want him to be when he just got back?" Hanna asks confused.
"He is being a jerk because we told him that we are engaged" Lucy replies.
"WHAT! YOUR ENGAGED!" Hanna screams.
"Yeah. We are" Lucy says smiling.
"When did this happen" Hanna asks.
"At the fireworks" Emma says.
"Awe. That's so cute!" Hanna says smiling.
"See look" Emma says taking on hand of the steering wheel to show Hanna.
"It's so so pretty" Hanna says smiling.
"Thank you" Emma says.
Lucy smiles at Emma who is driving and smiling like crazy then looks over her shoulder to see Hanna smiling and looking out the window. "She's gonna be so beautiful on our wedding day" Lucy says. "Awe. Thanks honey" Emma says stoping at a red light and kissing Lucy on the lips. "You guys are so cute" Hanna says Lucy looks back and says "Thanks".
Emma accelerates on the gas and drives down the road. "I'm going to text my mom that I'm going to yours okay" Hanna says. "Okay" Lucy says. Hanna texts her mom while Lucy turns on the radio. Emma sings the song to Lucy who is blushing like crazy "Your so sweet babe" Lucy says. "Your sweeter" Emma says smirking.
She turns in the left lane and then drives up ahead then turns right. She continues to sing as she drives down side streets "Your so great at singing" Lucy says smiling. Emma blushes and says "Thank you" Hanna sings along too.
Emma drives down Lucy's street passing Houses and kids playing in their yards. She turns in Lucy's driveway and parks the car. They all get out the car and walk to the porch Lucy opens the door her mom ad left it unlocked just in case she came back before her.
"Good news he isn't here" Lucy says.
"Okay" Emma and Hanna say.
They walk upstairs and down the hall to Lucy's room. They sit on the bed and talk and laugh until Brandon comes back.
