Chapter Nineteen
"What?" Hanna says.
"He is gone" Lucy says.
"I just talked to him, how?" Hanna says.
"He died at 7:35 am when did you talk to him?" Lucy asks.
Emma places the pancakes and eggs on the plate she looks a Lucy who is sitting down at the table she mouths the words "What's wrong?". Lucy listens to Hanna's soft cry on the other end of the phone.
"Hanna?" Lucy chokes out.
"What" Hanna says.
"I'm sorry" Lucy says.
{Click}
Line went dead.
"What happened?" Emma says walking towards Lucy with the plates in her hand. "Brandon's dead" Lucy says sobbing. "What when?" Emma says sitting next to Lucy and rubbing her back. "Today at 7:35" Lucy says sniffling "Oh, babe it's gonna be okay" Emma says holding Lucy tight in her arms.
Lucy looks at Emma and says "I feel so bad for Hanna she loved Brandon".
"I know, I feel the same poor Hanna" Emma replies.
Hanna,
How can this be?
Tears flow down Hanna's face as she walks down the street. Ring, ring it's Hanna's phone she continues to walk ignoring the phone call.
What if it's Brandon's mom stupid,
Hanna keeps walking ignoring the voice in her head. She turns the Corner and keeps walking until she gets to Brandon's house. She runs to the door and knocks, Come on answer the damn door. The door opens and Brandon's mom is standing there in complete silence.
"Can I come in?" Hanna asks "Yes" Brandon's mom replies Hanna steps in the house and follows Brandon's mom into the living room. "Can I.I get you anything?" Brandon's mom says trying to hold back tears. "I'm good, I don't feel like drinking or eating anymore" Hanna says looking at the floor "I'm so sorry honey" Brandon's mom says wrapping her arms around Hanna.
Tears flow down Hanna's face Brandon's mom holds back tears and whisper's "I know, I miss him too" Hanna says "This isn't real is it?" Brandon's mom lays her head on Hanna's shoulder and says "As much as I hate to admit it... it is" tears finally flowing from her eyes to her cheeks.
Emma and Lucy,
"What are we going to do?" Emma asks.
"I don't know" Lucy says.
"This doesn't even feel real" Emma says.
"I know, I hope she is okay, she isn't answering my calls" Lucy says.
"It'll be fine babe I'm sure she's fine" Emma says giving Lucy a kiss. "If you say so" Lucy says kissing her back and getting up to put her dishes in the sink. Emma grabs Lucy's hand and they go into Lucy's room leaving Emma's plate on the table.
Hanna,
"So, when is his funeral?" Hanna sobs.
"April 15," Brandon's mom sniffles.
"Okay," Hanna says.
Hanna gets up from the couch and walks to Brandon's room and leaves Brandon's mom staring at the floor as tears fall from her cheeks. Hanna slowly opens the door to Brandon's room she enters and see's pictures of Hanna when they were on a date. Hanna smiles and whispers "I miss you so much" she then walks over to a desk and there's a note on it the note read.
{Brandon's note}
Dear Hanna, when I saw you in the mall that one day my heart felt like it was going to explode, your so beautiful you're so sweet and funny and nice you know how to brighten someone's day just by smiling. I love you so much Hanna, I don't want to lose you, you mean everything to me Hanna Forever and Always.
Love Brandon,
"Forever and Always" Hanna whispers as tears flow down her face. Then on to the desk she grabs the note and puts it in her pocket. "I will never forget you Brandon, I promise" Hanna says smiling at the picture again.
She walks out Brandon's room turning to glance at the picture and then whispering "Love you Brandon". She walks down the hall and into the living room Brandon's mom isn't there anymore, "I'm going to go now Mrs. Love" Hanna says before walking out the door.
"Wait, Hanna" Brandon's mom yells.
Hanna turns around and waits, Brandon's mom comes out and says "You can come here anytime you need to thank you for making Brandon feel special" she says before turning around to walk back in her house. "Your welcome" Hanna says and starts to walk down the street.
I love you Hanna,
"I know, Brandon" Hanna says.
Don't be sad baby
"I'm trying"
I'll be okay don't worry
"How, I miss you please come back"
I know, I can't Hanna
"PLEASE"
I'm sorry, I have to go I love you Hanna
"WAIT BRANDON PLEASE DONT LEAVE ME"
Hanna falls to the floor tears fight to escape but she doesn't let them.
Please, come back Hanna says.
