••• Chapter 16 "Ambulance"•••

Gerard's POV

"YOU SIX OVER THERE!!! HEY, YOU BASTARDS!" It took us all some moments to realise the voice was addressing us and when we did, all of us, except for Jade, turned our heads to face the source of the voice. Uh-oh, we were in trouble. The reddened with anger face of the clerk was glaring at us with eyes that could only mean he wanted to burn us alive. "I'LL ASK YOU SIX TO REMOVE YOURSELVES FROM MY RESTAURANT NOW!!! YOU INCOMPETENT CRIMINAL BASTARDS!!!"

Actually, the clerk's suggestion didn't seem like a bad idea. In fact, leaving the restaurant would only bring us benefits: no more unnecessary attention given by other costumers and more importantly, fresh air for Jade, who looked like she desperately needed it. During this moment, it looked like the best option there was to help Jade, since we had no medical knowledge on this topic.

As if reading my mind, the guys helped me lift Jade carefully off the ground and carry her outside, to later set her on top of a wooden bench that didn't look at all comfortable on the park from across the street.

The park was extensive, calm and beautiful. The weather was not sunny enough to get a tan nor cloudy, it was quite comfortable. Birds perched on tree branches created soft, lovely melodies. A lake filled with happy showering ducks, geese and swans was set some metres away from where we were standing. There were some people here and there minding their own business. In general, the park radiated beauty.

And do you know what made it even more beautiful? Jade.

Ray's POV

Nobody knows for sure what happened back there, but there were several things that were clear enough: we surely weren't allowed back in iHop ever again and that Jade needed our aid.

It was also unclear why Jade needed us and our help besides from the big bruise that crossed her cheek horizontally. Lexi's words had been very harsh although we weren't sure why or the meaning behind them exactly.

As of now, Jade was set lying over a wooden bench on a park, peacefully and silently, while Gerard was kneeled beside her, holding her hand as he silently cried his eyes out repeating to himself that it had all been his entire fault. Mikey was next to Gerard trying to calm him down and make him believe it would have happened one way or another and that it wasn't Gerard's fault at all. However, Gerard would not buy that and kept on blaming himself for Jade's state of being. Bob paced back and forth behind Frank who was supposedly doing a "high quality professional medical vital signs checkup" as if he knew how. And in the meantime, as all the above happened, I was the responsible one of calling 911 to get to ask for the correct thing to do on the situation we were being placed upon.

I placed the speaker next to my ear with little difficulty on being able to stuff the phone under my fro of hair. "Hello? Umm, I need help. A friend is unconscious. She presents minor injuries but she is not currently breathing. What is the procedure to follow on this case?" I elegantly asked.

"Aha...sure... We are located on the small park across the street from 49 street iHop...thank you very much! Goodbye" I hung up.

After slowly and calmly walking back to where the guys were, I told them the news; an ambulance was being sent to check on Jade and perhaps take her to the hospital.

At the previous statement, Frank shook his head while closing his eyes, Bob stopped walking and eyed me worryingly, Mikey had a serious look on his face and Gerard just cried harder.

We remained silent. However, I knew we all hoped Jade was going to be okay.

Paramedic's POV

"C'mon guys! We've got a mission!"

Some minutes ago, they had informed us of a guy calling from 49 Street asking for help with an injured, unconscious girl. And it was our duty to help and get there on time.

The first things I wondered about when the details were given to us were: 1) How the hell did she faint? 2) If there was a guy with her, why didn't he protect her? 3) How old is she? 4) Is she gonna make it out okay?

As my pal drove the ambulance at a high speed, but with enough precautions, I sat alongside another coworker in the back where all medicines, the stretcher and materials were placed.

Suddenly, the vehicle came to a stop and the back doors were opened for me and my buddy to climb out and see this through.

The first thing I saw, personally, was a big fro, a dude? Possible he was the one to call us. Wait a second. Blonde hair, another guy. A dark hair person, oh, two actually. One shorter than the other. Both male. A boy with glasses?? That makes 5 dudes. WHAT?!?! Did they just arrive or are they here out of plain curiosity or where they here when the incident occurred? It's incredible how none of them seem to be as harmed as the figure resting on the bench, this time, a girl.

"Thank goodness you are here. We are damn worried about her," fro guy thanked us.

"I already checked her vital signs," the shorter boy said as a matter of factly. That made me grin.

The tough blond just nodded. That and the cries of the long haired one (boyfriend, possibly?) were enough to encourage me and start working right away.

Placing my stethoscope in my ears and on her left-side chest, I began checking for her vital signs once again.

"A broken nose, black eye, broken wrist, a face cut, minor brain damage, reopened deep scars on her wrists which clearly mean she is under depression and urgently needs help...," I listed Jade Evan's injuries, and concerns. After being a paramedic for so long, watching the saddened expressions of people as you told them the facts didn't affect you as much as it would to an ordinary person.

"Boys, we will have to take her back to the hospital."

MCR's POV

Although the paramedic had listed minor brain damage, the phrase "reopened deep scars on her wrists which clearly mean she is under depression and urgently needs help" was the one to shock us the most.

Jade, always helping others when she was the one who needed help. Why did she hide it? What happened to make her feel this way? Does it have something to do with what Lexi said back there? Now we feel guilty.

But most importantly, can we fix her?
