The back room looked like one of those rooms that should look old, dusty, with cobwebs everywhere, but this empty room looked intentionally clean. It was creepy. It was just a dark black room with a little hallway to the right. Asgore led me to the end of the hallway to a large, arched, purple door. It was the exact same door as the one in the Ruins.

"Chara." Asgore said. "Behind these doors you will find out why we are trapped down here, why you can't leave, and what humans have done to us." He stopped speaking and opened up the door.

The anticipation for wanting to know why we were trapped down here was to much to bare and I pushed passed Asgore and looked at what appeared to be a never ending hallway that changed monochromatic colors at will. I stood there for a long time, I was listening to the never ending sound of the void in front of me. It made me feel powerless and small.

"This is the barrier." Asgores voice bellowed and echoed throughout the void. "The place where the human world and the monster world clash in an endless void. Dr. Gaster is trying to come up with a way to shatter the barrier but so far its a bust." He seemed to have a sadness in his voice when he spoke but still continued, "Lets sit down and I will tell you the tragic story of the monsters."

I nodded and sat down. It was weird though, it felt like sitting down on nothing. I felt hollow like a ghost. Then he sat down and started to tell the story.

"Long ago two races ruled over the Earth: humans and monsters. One day, war broke out between the two races. Monsters and humans both fought hard, this war, we all knew it, meant life on the surface or locked away forever. After a long and death worthy battle the humans were victorious. We, the monsters ran away in fear. They have killed so many of us that it was like trudging through a desert of monster dust to get to the mountain. They sealed the monsters underground with a magic spell. Yes, we know humans don't have magic, they used the remaining magic from the fallen monsters dust to create a spell strong enough. Cruel people." He took a deep breath and continued, "Then humans created what is now known as the barrier. Humans took everything from us that day. Our hopes, our homes, our families, our dreams, and worst of all the truce between us. We trusted humans and we thought they trusted us, but I guess that wasn't true. To this day, all we have gotten back is hope and that hope is, that one day we will see the surface again and smell the fresh air. Dr. Gaster and I have been working overtime to try and find a way the shatter the barrier forever but so far no luck. But we just keep hoping and that is what keeps us humble, that is what keep us smiling."

Wow, what a story. How come I never knew about this in the surface! Do humans really not like monsters that much. It doesn't seem like they did anything wrong! My thoughts were buzzing around in my head. I wasn't too stunned to hear how evil humanity is. I was a tortured human so why didn't I hate them all? Was there something wrong with me?

"It's okay, Chara, you're nothing like them. I must ask a question. Are humans still like this? I mean, do they still fight, I mean everyone fights but are they... violent towards others?"

Asgore was trying to chose his words carefully but I responded with, "Yes, they are. They always have been."

Asgore sighed, "Well then, yes you are nothing like them. Come, Chara, it's late. Let us go get Asriel and lets go home."

We got up and locked the giant door behind us, leaving the void of noises to fill the silence.
