Chapter 38

As I gasped in shock, the old Dr Gaster stepped out of the dark. "Hello Chara." Gaster annouced in a deep chuckle, "Long time... no see. What have you been doing for these many... long years?" His long and boney head moved sideways as he asked the question.

"H-how... what... why... Gaster?" I couldn't make thr questions I wanted to ask come out of my mouth. "I've been... doing..." I couldn't look away, he wanted to kill me the first and only time I saw him personally.

"No need to feel frightened. You're already dead... have been for a long time. I'm also dead, but still very much alive... the same as you I suppose."

I furrowed my eyebrows, "Same as me? In what way. What do you mean?"

"Appear to the living world, yet be a ghost of your past too. You are still living, yet you never age. You are still moving, yet you never have to walk. You never have to sleep, but you are sleeping right now." Gaster was slowly walking closer to me, his body was all gliched out like mine was.

"I-I'm sleeing? Is Frisk okay!? How do you know this? Where are we? Is this hell? Have you been watch me?" The questions they wouldn't stop forming. I sit down and cover my face in frustration. He sits down, but keeps his distance, which I found respectful.

"One question at a time please, I mean we do have a infinite amount of time... your mind and Frisks minds are one in the same, but still two separate minds. You can hear their thought and you can hear theirs... it's how you have been silently communicating, right?" I nod and he simple glances over and nods back.

He hands raise up and motion around him, "This place, this is thebtrue void, only see by those who are like us... which as far as I know, we are the only ones who have pursused after death. The void shows you your past, both good and evil, tortures you and comforts you. This is the first place I was sent after I died in the Core. I had the determination to live... but you... you had determination all along... I must correct myself, you still have determination inside you" He smirks a little as if it brought uo a good memory.

"I have determination..." I extend my hands again and my soul appears. My heart was becoming pure red again. My eyes widened as the reality hit me, "Wait! So the color of my soul actually... means something!?" He nods. "May you tell me all the different soul colors? I know there are many differt colors, I saw the rainbow in my dad's grave room... are there anymore than that?"

He nods and waves his hand in front of him, magically a set of scrolls appear. He carefully unravels a few and the ones that were left alone float off into the white space. The peice of paper he unraveled was a diagram of hearts with all sorts of different colors, labeled different emotions, that I could read, and tiny symbols beside each one, which I didn't understand.

He points a bony finger at the red one on the top, "This one is yours and Frisks... the only two that have existed in centuries... there has ine been one other recored red soul, thousands of years ago. It's the soul of dertermination. The soul in peculiar... peaked my interest for many years." I wad simply amazed at how he knew all of this.

He continued down the list which next was orange, "This one is the soul of bravery. Fourth most common soul of the nine. There has been 45 humans recorded to have shown true magical bravery. I'm sure there has been more, but I stick with the true records."

"Next is the yellow heart, the soul of justice. The most common soul of them all. It's had a total of 72 humans recorded to have the soul."

"Then the green heart, the soul of kindness. The second most common soul of the bunch. It's been recored that 56 humans have had this soul. It also has the strongest aura out of the six common souls, I remember hypothesizing that the soul of justice to have the strongest arua but it's only the fourth.
