Soon enough Frisk inched their way over to the center of the room and out of nowhere, Sans appeared in the shadows. Sans voice was deep and gravelly almost. "So you finally made it. The end of your journey is at hand. In a few moments, you will meet the king. Together...you will determine the future of this world. That's then." Sans voice intensified, "Now. You will be judged. You will be judged for your every action. You will be judged for every EXP you've earned. What's EXP? It's an acronym. It stands for 'E᙭EᑕᑌTIOᑎ ᑭOIᑎTᔕ.'" His voice went even lower when he said that. I've never seen Sans this... serious. Ever. I could sense the fear and utter shock that Frisk was feeling.
Sans still continued with no breaks, "A way of quantifying the pain you have inflicted on others. When you kill someone, your EXP increases. When you have enough EXP, you LOVE increases." I flinched at the word love. I remember the day I asked Asriel about it.
"LOVE, too, is an acronym." Sans continued on still hiding in the shadows, "It stands for 'Level Of Violence.' A way of measuring someone's capacity to hurt. The more you kill, the easier it is to distance yourself. The more you distance yourself," Sans almost sighed the last part, "The less you will hurt. The more easily you can bring yourself to hurt others." I also just noticed that this is the first time he has even spoken properly, capitals in his sentences and correct punctuations. Odd...
Finally after what seemed like a millennia of time, Sans finally stepped out of the shadows. We could see his full face, he looked calm. "... but you never gained any LOVE." He was back to his old self again, how weird. "'course, that doesn't mean you're completely innocent or naïve. just that you kept a certain tenderness in your heart. no matter the struggles or hardships you faced... you strived to do the right thing. you refused to hurt anyone. even when you ran away, you did it with a smile." Sans almost chuckled after that.
He smiled even wider than his already permanent smile and said, "you never gained LOVE, but you gained love. does that make sense? maybe not... now. you're about to face the greatest challenge of your entire journey." Frisk's head bent down so they weren't looking Sans in the eye, but I never broke his eye contact.
Frisk has a look in their eyes, it was obvious that the idea of killing someone still bothered them. He looked directly at me. His never ending smile was creepy. He continued, "your actions here... will determine the fate of the entire world. if you refuse to fight... asgore will take you soul and destroy humanity. but if you kill asgore and go home... monsters will remain trapped underground."
He paused again and narrowed his eyes a fraction of an inch and very calmly said, "what will you do? ... well, if i were you, i would have thrown in the towel by now. but you didn't get here by giving up, did you? that's right... you have something called, 'determination.' so as long as you hold on... so as long as you do what's in your heart..." He closed his eyes completely and almost whispered, "i believe you can do the right thing." He breathed out and was back to normal in less than a second. "alright. we're all counting on you, kid. good luck."
He turned to leave back into the shadows again until he quickly and suddenly stopped dead in his tracks. Frisk seemed to still be digesting his speech so I let them be. Sans turned on his heel and stared at me again. Narrowing his eyes. Then his eyes opened up real wide like in shock or fear or something. "is that... no... there is no way." He looked back at Frisk who was now questioning Sans's confused and amazed look. "c-chara dreemurr?!" I became visible and stared at him with my blood red eyes. I waved my hand and my knife appeared magically.
I never blinked, not even for a second. I then realized that after telling Frisk the truth all the dark black hatred had gone away and I was now recognizable to anyone who saw me. Is that why Sans always stared at me, just trying to figure out who I was... how could he see me in the first place. I narrowed my eyes back at him and scoffed. His eye lit up in a cyan fiery blaze. Frisk was suddenly very afraid, they backed up on step. I kept my ground just holding my knife tighter than before now. "You... you son of a bitch..." Sans said breaking the silence. "You were the future of monsters and humans alike! What... have... you DONE! Look around you brat! I know what your plan was with Asriel." His name was still sensitive and I flinched. His smile increased yet again.
