~two years later~
Mom and I were sitting in the living room. She was teaching me how to sew and knit. I caught on pretty quickly because I finished knitting a pot holder in one minute flat. The magic from Toriel really helped. After that, she taught me how to sew things like shirts and pants. In the next hour I made a pink sweater for dad. It said on the from Mr. Dad Guy. I was so sure he would love it!
Later that day when dad came home from work I didn't even hesitate and I ran up and gave him the present. He opened it and was so happy! I always loved it when he was extra happy because he always got me an extra dark chocolate bar! It was like a win win scenario.
Then mom came out of the kitchen with two wrapped presents in her hands. Then she called for both Asriel and I. We both looked at the presents and we both knew it was for us but what was it?
"So children, I know it's not anyone's birthday and it's not Christmas. But I thought it would be nice to make both these! I can't tell you what you must open them." She handed us the presents. "Go on now! Open them!"
Asriel and I decided to open them at the same time. Three... Two...One... Open! We torn open the presents and the two of us pulled out matching yellow and green sweaters. Did she sew these while I was distracted sewing dad's sweater? Impressive! Asriel and I put them on and we were like matching twins, except his had multiple yellow stripes and mine had only one large stripe in the middle. Just like the blankets we got when I first fell down. I didn't know about Asriel, but I'm wearing this forever and ever! Mom laughed and told us she would sew us more of the exact same sweater and hung them up in our closet.
~one month later~
Asriel and I were hanging out at the castle in the garden when I had a brilliant thought! I shook him wildly and said, "I've got a genius idea! We should make dad a butterscotch cinnamon pie!"
"Chara! That's a brilliant idea!!! First we should get our butterscotch." Asriel said.
"Were do we get some?" I asked.
"Well we have to make a the butterscotch and we need Buttercups in order to do that so, right here! These here are Buttercup flowers." Asriel said.
"Oh ya! The recipe says we need 3 cups of butter, I mean it makes perfect sense." I exclaimed, "Hurry lets go get some plastic cups and fill them with Buttercups before king dad comes back!" I said quickly.
We got up and ran to get three plastic cups. Then we ran back into the throne room and hurriedly filled the cups with Buttercups. Then we raced home, running down the streets and tracked the river person down so we could hitch a ride home. Once we got home we made sure mom was gone on her snail hunting trip and then we start baking.
We rolled out some dough and covered the dough in Buttercups. We let it bake for about an hour until the dough was a golden brown. We slightly burnt it but not badly. Then we topped it with a whole bottle of cinnamon. Dad loves cinnamon. Then we sat and waited for dad and mom to get home.
Dad got home before mom, so when he got home we gave dad the pie and forced him to sit down and eat it. He said is was delicious, since it was our first pie we ever made it was pretty good. Then mom got home we had dinner. She didn't have any pie though. Then we finally went to sleep.
That next morning was not a good one. We were woken up by mom shaking us awake frantically asking us what we put in that pie. Asriel looked really worried and confessed that we put Buttercups, the dough, and the whole jar of cinnamon on it. Her eye widened in fear and she started whispering to herself.
"Mom! What's wrong?! Is dad hurt or something?" I said. She didn't reply at first. "Mom!"
Then she looked up tears in her eye and slowly asked, "You didn't use Buttercups as in... Buttercups the flower did you?!"
I nodded and then she yelled for the first time ever, "THOSE ARE POISONOUS!! WHAT ON THE UNDERGROUND WERE YOU THINKING CHILDREN! YOUR FATHER IS PROBABLY DYING AND IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!"
Asriel and I recoiled in fear that she might do something rash. She must have noticed us jump in fear because then then blew her nose and wiped her tears away and quickly said, "Oh no! Please forgive me! Please! I didn't mean to! I'm just so worried. This wasn't your fault. You didn't know. I'm so sorry." Her voiced cracked.
I got up breathing fast and hugged her. I didn't say anything I just hugged her. I never knew Buttercups were poisonous. I blinked my tears away but I never let them fall and watched Asriel slowly get out of bed and walk out of the room.
I then got up and went into Asgore's bedroom. I saw him laying there breathing heavily and the fur on his face was matted down with sweat. Asriel was by his side hold his hand with silent tears falling down his face. He was in awful condition. We gave him three full cups of poison and didn't even know it... I then did something I didn't expect. I laughed. I didn't cry. I laughed and laughed and laughed. I felt the worst pain ever. No harm to me, but to someone I truly loved. I had hurt him. This was all my idea.
Asriel looked at me, and out of the corner of my eye I saw his confused expression with worry and sadness. But I continued to laugh. I laughed so hard I put my hands to my face and felt the tears racing down my cheeks. I felt broken for the first time in two years. Mom walked into the room and had a tray of medicines. By then I slipped out of the room and hid outside his door the rest of the day in fear of bursting out laughing again.
Undyne was the only one to break down the door and go into dad's room. By the time she came out her head was down in despair and I could barely see a small tear fall down her cheek. Undyne was the strongest person I knew and even she was crying, obviously I screwed up... big time. Everyone was worried that my dad would die. I couldn't help but blame myself.
~three days later~
I woke up and I was laying outside of dad's door again with my pillow and blanket on the floor. Mom and Asriel have been in that room for three days only coming out for food and more medicine. I didn't go back into the room until mom came out sighing in relief.
"What?" I jumped up from my spot and couldn't help myself, "Is everything okay? What's happening?"
Mom whispered, "He's okay! He's okay! Now it'll just take time. Time..." And with that she walked into her room and in seconds I her snoring from her room. She must be exhausted. I felt bad.
I slowly walked into dad's room and saw him sitting up with soup and Asriel on the end of his bed they were talking.
"Chara?! Is that you?" Dad asked.
I nodded. I didn't dare talk or else I might cry in relief that he was okay. He opened up his arms in a welcoming hug and I hugged him for what seemed like years. He had tears in his eyes. Okay I admit I cried too. Okay fine!! More like I sobbed.
"Shhh. It's fine Chara. I'm okay now see." He was playing the 'I am an invincible dad' card.
"N-No your n-not! I hurt you! Y-you were not okay." I couldn't help my voice slipping away.
He then told me, "I'm okay! Think of this like the flu. Like being sick for just a few days until I'm back to normal again. Imagine it as the game 'doctor.' I'm the sickling and you have to take care of me until I'm all better."
Asriel and I nodded in agreement and we played 'doctor' until he was better. Undyne stopped by with a card and talked to Asgore for about an hour. I felt bad for her too because she saw Asgore as a second parent because both of her parents died at a young age for her. I didn't think I could live with myself if I accidentally would have killed dad. From now on no more surprise cooking.
