Maul hated Lothal. It was too bright and sunny out, but Ezra thrived in this weather apparently. Note to self, be sure while training Ezra go to sunny planets like this one, Maul thought to himself. Ezra was walking up ahead, Maul had put a cloak on and was using his cane. Ezra had found himself the one cloak that wasn't black that Maul owned, and was of course wearing it. When Maul turned a corner, he saw a house. It looked like it was burned, with warning signs from the Empire. Ezra had walked into it. Maul realized what this was to Ezra, "Ezra...this is your home, where you grew up ." Maul said, it wasn't a question but a statement. Ezra nodded anyway, "It is. My parents, Mira and Ephraim Bridger and I lived here until I was seven." Ezra said, he was looking through the rubble. "Then the Empire took it all away. My parents resisted them, sent out broadcasts... Then the Empire came. They took them away from me, a seven year old boy left to fend for himself on the streets of Lothal. I don't blame my parents for what they did, I've never had. It's one of the reasons why I fight the Empire." Ezra said, finally looking at the Zabrak. Maul sighed, "Ezra... What I'm about to tell you might be a real, ah, shocker, I suppose." Ezra nodded for Maul to go on. "Emperor Palpatine...was my master. He taught me most of what I know. He took me as an infant away from my home! My people! And my family! He killed Savage right in front of me... He ordered his minions to kill my mother... These deaths happened back in the Clone Wars. I ruled Mandalore and the Criminal Underworld back then. What I wouldn't give to have them back with me today... I think you would've liked my brother, Savage." Maul said. Ezra looked like he was trying to process what Maul had said. "So Palpatine is a Sith?! Wow, that makes a lot more sense. He killed your brother and mother? Geez, no wonder you hate him and his Inquisitors so bad... I guess we do have some things in common." Ezra said. "Well today, I guess I'm thankful for you sharing that with me. Now tell me what you're thankful for." Maul smiled, "I suppose I'm thankful for you Ezra, I haven't talked about my...feelings in many years. I am sorry about your parents, the Empire will regret the day it took them from you." The Zabrak snarled.

That was very fun to write. Happy Thanksgiving to all and to all a goodnight!
