There and Back Again {On Hold}

this is gonna end badly.

Karkat's POV:

I was laying in my sleeping bag looking at the ceiling. Its been a full week since dave came to stay with his cousin, and we've all been hanging out nonstop the whole time.
We were all sleeping over at Dave's cousin Roxy's house. It was me, dave and john staying in Dave's room, and then jade and rose were staying in one of the spare bedrooms.
Man was this place big.
I never knew dave was related to someone so rich..oh well.

I sat up in my sleeping bag and looked around Dave's room. It wasn't all that decked out since he just got here a week ago but I just know he's gonna have "the fresh prince of bel-air" posters everywhere by the end of the summer.
I saw, john in the corner sleeping in his bag and dave was sleeping in his bed, his back toward me.

I got out of my bag and walked over to his bed. For the first time, I saw him without his shades on. He looked even more charming. I smiled to myself, but it quickly faded, he would never be with someone like me.

I sighed and walked over to the door, another night of insomnia. I opened it quietly and slipped out.

I walked slowly down the hallway so I didn't wake anyone.
At the end was a door that led to the balcony.
I opened the door and walked out the door into the crisp summer night.
I always loved it outside at night. It was so peaceful and damn it! It smelled so good outside. Like the world was just made new.
I looked over the balcony, I  was on the second of three floors.

I heard the door open and then a feminine voice call my name.
"Karkat?"
I turned around and it was jade, only she had on a long mint green night gown and he glasses weren't on her face.
"What are you doing out here?" She asked.
"I uh..couldn't sleep, did I wake you?" I questioned.
She walked up beside me and replied.
"Oh no! I just happened to get up to use the bathroom.."

"Jade? Can I ask you something?" I looked at her.
"Of course karkat! You can ask me anything!" She said in her cheery voice.
"Do you...do you ever regret dating?" I asked timidly.
"What?! Of course not karkat! Why would you think that?!"
She whisper yelled.
"I well..I don't know.. I guess sometimes I over think...sorry" I mumbled.
"Don't be sorry! Karkat I loved you! When we were dating you were my whole world. Sometimes I still think of what it would be like to marry you.." She said weakly.
"Really?" I asked.
"Of course.."

A few minutes went by before she spoke again.
"I'm sorry I caused your panic attack..I didn't think this would upset you so much..."
"Its not your faut jade...and don't think it is...I just need to make sure I don't fall for him again..." I replied.
"Karkat you can't be sacred of dave...I know I'm not rose and I don't know everything about this but...trust me and let things just happen... But you can't be scared of dave, don't be scared when you start loving him again." She smiled at me.
I smiled back at her.
"Thanks jade..." I hugged her.
She hugged back.
"Well I'm going back to bed, but please take my words into consideration!" She walked back through the door.

After about ten minutes I decided to go in too.
I walked back into Dave's room and laied in my bag. I thought about what jade said. She said I can't be afraid of dave. Or falling in love. I'm not afraid of loving him...I'm afraid of loosing him.
I fell into a deep sleep after that.

I woke up with the sun in my eyes, John wasn't in the room but dave was, he was awake and reading a magazine.
I threw a lone shoe at him.
"Ow! KitKat! What the hell!" He yelled.
"Close the curtains! The sun is in my eyes!" I yelled back at him.
"No! I need the light to read!" He said.
"Well maybe if you took those stupid sunglasses off you would be able to see better!" I came back at him.

He was quiet. Too quiet.

"Um dave..?" Silence.
"Are you ok?" I asked.

"Oh..uh yeah...I'm ok...say how 'bout I go look for Egbert..." He got up and walked out. Did I upset him?

I walked downstairs and strolled into the kitchen where john and dave were talking.

They stopped talking when I entered.

"Um...is everything ok?" I asked.
"Oh uh..yeah.." John looked upset. "Dad called he uh..wants us home soon."
"Aw..that sucks...sorry you couldn't stay longer..." Dave said sounding confused.

Me and john went upstairs to get dressed and pack up.

After that we walked out of Roxy's huge mansion.

We walked silently. John didn't say a word. The whole time he looked like he was gonna cry. I stopped him.
"John what's wrong? You look like your gonna cry.." I asked concerned for my brother.
That's when he lost it.
He began sobbing and I immediately hugged him tight. I had managed to make it to his height. He sobbed in my shoulder.
After he calmed down I.asked him again, "john? What wrong? Your scaring me.."

"I just don't wanna loose you...your the best brother ever and I need you..." He mumbled, a stray tear rolling down his face.
"Hey..who said I was going anywhere?" I asked.
He just simply took my hand and led me the rest of the way home.

We opened the door and there in the living room was the social services lady, calliope. I hadn't seen her since I moved here..wait why is she here?!
On the couch beside her was mr Egbert, a look of concern washed over his face when he saw John. And on the other side was a man, with hair red like mine but darker, be had on a red turtle neck and he looked really familer.
I didn't know who he was yet..I felt I knew him

"Karkat! It is a pleasure to see you again! I'm kankri! I'm your brother and I'm here to take custody of you!" Said the man.

I couldn't believe it, he was my brother from so long ago.
But johns my brother now...oh god...
