Noctis P.O.V

(Present Time)

Everyone is still fast asleep in the tent. Noctis gaze shifts to you. He breathes a sigh of relief. Your breaths are slow and steady, rhythmic in time with your heartbeat. Your cheeks hold a slight flush to them, and your parted lips are a rosy pink. Not the ashen grey colors from his dream. Seeing you die had affected him in a vastly different capacity, than watching Luna die, in the dreams before.

This nightmare has shown him, his true feelings. They are reflected back to him, a mirror into his soul. The message still rings loud and clear in his chest. Noctis won't forget, ever, he can't. Even if he desired too. He loves you with all his being. He would've died, for you, instantly. Anything to stop the twisted nightmare...

The Prince, however, has little doubt in his mind. That his Father, intended for him to marry Lunafreya, treaty or no. Will he walk the path set before him by his Father or choose his own... The question, has plagued him incessantly. Ever since, his feelings for you, developed. It held him back, on several occasions. But, the question, will plague him no longer.

Luna was raised a princess, and knew some of what it took to rule a kingdom. She holds the title of Oracle, renowned and respected by many. And by uniting with Luna, an additional ally, Tenebrae, would be regained. As well as additional troops in times of war. The royal bloodline would be strengthened. His father truly was a wise man.

Despite the advantages, the thought of marrying Luna left Noctis empty inside. Though he cared for her, and happy childhood memories existed between them, she was estranged to him now. The friendly bond, that existed between them, was severed long ago.

All the memories, that tied them together, were like mere illusions. A spiders' web so intercity weaved, but now desolate. Its' lonely threads dangle helplessly in the breeze, long forgotten and forsaken. Twelve long years have passed, since Noctis has met with her face to face...

The correspondence they had shared, so faithfully, over the years had also lessened. It was a spares trickle now. Noctis felt more surprise than joy, at seeing Luna's black dog Umbra. He always carried a rose colored tome, tucked securely around his fluffy chest. The contents of which, were notes and inquires, between the Prince and Oracle.

You have no armies, wealth, or training in the way of royalty. But you posses a heart, and character Noctis can't ignore. Regardless of what some may claim, any great ruler, is a servant of the people. King Regis, had shown him that. Noctis spent many nights, as a young child, lonely and wishing for his Father's company. The needs of the people come before your own.

Kingship is an unavoidable burden Noctis must bear. The people of Insomnia need someone familiar to rally behind now, more than ever. Once order is restored, Noctis will take his place as King. And if you will accept his hand, you as the Queen of Lucis. It will be his final selfish act before taking the throne. The Prince promises himself, he'll do all in his power, to make you happy.

(Musings)

At first when they'd found you. None of them could believe it. Prompto himself had just finished saying no one would've been able to escape. A lone figure, held aloft, by a Niflheim soldier. It's gun pushed perilously against the person's chest. Taking it down was a simple task. They'd faced many such soldiers on their journey.

Noctis was on the move before he'd even realized it. The mechanoid had activated self destruct. He flung himself overtop the hapless victim stunned on the ground. They were too close and the explosion would have been fatal. Bits of debris pelted his back, leaving welts. A searing heat followed, that seemed to melt the hairs on the back of his neck. The scar running along his spine, burned as if the fire were absorbed there, a pulsing wild flame. He instinctively held the figure below closer.
