'Floyd, just tell me what you want to eat okay? I am not going to get every single vegetable and piece of meat that I see,' I say into my earpiece a bit annoyed. Floyd keeps claiming he doesn't care what we eat, but last time he whined because I choose the wrong type of meat.
"Chicken. Just get chicken. I really don't care okay," he says. His voice is also getting more annoyed every second. Dammit, why is this happening. It has been a month and we're already getting on each other's nerves. I stay home and watch the days pass, Floyd has a proper job and earns a proper salary. Surprisingly enough, we didn't run into any other people from Seoul. Seems like the little riot run stopped. No more people fleeing from there, which is either really good or really bad depending on how you look at it.
My feet carry me over the busy market. People are yelling, talking, laughing everywhere, but I want nothing else than getting out of here. I feel like I don't blend in and I hate that feeling. It makes me feel watched. A sudden yell catches everyone's attention.
'TRAITOR!'
What the heck? What could that be about? I only have to turn around to find out and I see two guys standing towards each other. They both seem furious and this can't be anything good.
'I made my choice,' the smaller build one says quite relaxed, but you can read the anger off his face. My eyesight gets stronger, I see the people from inside out. No one is going to do something and this is going to go wrong. Police is too far away. If I don't do something, one of them is going to end up dead.
Quickly, I get a mask out of my bag as the fight escalates. The first punches fall and I feel the ground shake. They have it too and one of them has earth as specialty. My backpack is back on my back as I zip my jacket closed. I take one last deep breath before charging at them at full speed. The sprint doesn't take much of my energy, but what follows does. As I come closer, I stick my hands in front of me, pointing in the middle of them. Wind starts to blow and as I come closer and they move further apart, I keep my hands pointed at them. When they are pushed to the sides, I give the wind one last push to get them off their feet.
My feet stop running, my body turns around and there is only one of them left. The other ran. Before people can call the army, I run to the guy left and grab him, making him run with me. He struggles, but soon he's just going along. The situation is just as dangerous for me as it is for him. With my free hand, the hand that is not holding him, I point backwards. Wind behind us makes us run faster until we're far gone from everyone.'Again, thank you,' he says for the so manyest time. We ended up at a gas station where we locked ourselves in the bathroom to clean him up, though I don't think we had to lock the door. Everything was pretty dead. So dead that there wasn't any light, so I made light. I mean, this guy already knows about it, so why pretend like all that never happend?
'Seriously, shut up,' I tell him as I dip a wet towel against his cuts. He flinches each time. 'Why did you fight that guy?' I ask out of curiosity.
'Well, he's like you and me, but he was persuaded to join the army. I hadn't seen him in a while and I guess I just got angry,' he explains. I nod understandingly. 'Why are you doing this?'
'Because my days are incredibly boring,' I say sarcastically. I pauze a second before continuing my sentence. 'Because I saw that you were going to die if I didn't do something.'
'So you're a banshee? Like, you can see death?' he asks. I hit his stupid head.
'No, of course not. I'm like you. Banshees don't exist.' My hands run through my hair, like they do so many times, pushing my silver hair out of my face. 'So who was the guy? Just for further reverence and to know who I have to run from.'
'Luhan. And my name is D.O. if you wanted to know.' I raise an eyebrow.
'A fake name. Smart,' I tell him. 'I always tell people to call me baby.' He chuckles.
'And do they actually do that?'
'Yeah, but I'd rather have them say that than having them know my real name.'
'You're a smart girl.'
'Thank you.' I throw the towel in a corner and step aside, leaning against the wall of the bathroom. 'You're done.' He jumps off the sink.
'I just remembered something,' he says, 'my friends told me they met a girl who told them to call her baby.' I roll my eyes.
'Ah, so you're one of the Seoul guys?' I say sarcastically. He smiles amused.
'No, I'm from Goyang, but yes, I did flee from Seoul.'
'Is that Luhan guy one of the reasons?' He nods. 'Okay, so how come you are with such a big group?'
'We're pretty organized,' he says and starts heading for the door. It unlocks quickly and I follow him outside. 'So where are we?'
'Just outside the big city. Just follow that road and you'll get back to where we were,' I tell him and turn around to walk the other way myself.
'And where are you going?'
'Home,' I say as I turn around one last time to face him as I speak. He nods.
'I guess I'll see you around,' he says.
'Only if I don't have to save you again.''Seriously? Why do you always face these things when I'm not around? It really pisses me off,' Floyd says as he paces around the house in his fancy suit. He rants about me being irresponsible, how I shouldn't have taken that guy away on my own, how I could've been caught. I honestly don't care.
It has been so long since I've had to use it. The 7th sense as they call it.
Never say it out loud, they might catch you. Using it is a no go, but using it feels so satisfying. It feels like freedom, like a restrain is being lifted.
It's the best feeling ever.
'How'd you even get home? You went there by buss and it's ten kilometers,' Floyd suddenly realizes.
'Well, that's another funny story.'
