Floyd's POV
'Hey Floyd, are you still going to drive me home?' I look up from my desk to see Luhan standing in front of it. He has been my coworker and friend for a while now. We tend to do a lot together and we do better when we work together. This morning I picked him up from home because his car broke down yesterday.
'Sure, but I have to pick my sister up from work first. I hope you don't mind,' I tell him as I start gathering my things and putting them in my bag.
'No, not at all. Your sister is a barista right?' he asks curiously. I let out a chuckle.
'Yeah, but there's no way in hell I'm letting you hit on her,' I tell him.
'Aish, I'd never do that. She's your little sister. That would be like dating my own sister. Plus, you know that's not my style,' he says a bit jokingly. My sister is gorgeous, I know that much. When we go out together, I have to swat the men off her and yet she doesn't seem interested in anyone. Maybe she's waiting for mister right, maybe she wants to be single her whole life, I don't really know and I don't really mind. It's her life. The bell that goes off when you enter the cafe greets us happily. I spot my little sister right away. Well, little. She was little, now she's a real woman. She comes up to us right away.
'Hey, who's this?' she asks.
'This is Luhan. I am driving him home today,' I explain. The two bow to each other.
'Nice to meet you Mali,' Luhan says.
'Nice to meet you too Luhan. You can drive him home first. I have to stay a little longer. We still have quite a bit to do,' she says.
'Mali, tell your brother and his friend to take a seat. You're done in half an hour,' my sister's boss says as he comes closer. Next to me, Luhan stands a bit taller. I've known Luhan long enough to know that he thinks the guy is handsome.
'Hey Floyd, what would you like?' Minseok, her boss, asks me as my sister walks to the back to finish her work.
'A cappuccino please,' I tell him smiling.
'And for you?' he asks Luhan. Minseok's smile is a bit gummier when he looks at Luhan. Weird, these two just met and already have chemistry.
'Just plain coffee,' Luhan says. Minseok gives him a look.
'That's no fun.'
'Than surprise me.' Minseok walks away with a mischievous grin on his face and comes back a bit later with out coffee.
'A cappuccino and a double espresso with whipped cream and cinnamon powder,' he says.
'Wow, I'm jealous,' I joke to Luhan.
'Thanks baozi,' Luhan says smiling.
'Baozi?' Minseok asks him, 'like she steamed bun?'
'You never told me your name, so that's what I'm calling you.' Can these two get any cuter? I'm basically awing over them.
'I'm Kim Minseok, but you can call me baozi.'-------------
Minseok's POV
'Morning Mali,' I say cheerfully when the grey haired girl walks in with a big smile on her face.
'Morning Minseok. How are you today?' she asks while she walks to the back.
'Perfectly fine, thanks for asking,' I say, returning her smile. I am not fine at all. Something is chewing on me, like there is something I should remember but I just can't. It drives me insane.
'Minnie, can I leave early today? Floyd got a promotion and he wants to go out for dinner,' Mali tells me when she walks back into the cafe itself, tying her apron around her waist.
'Yeah sure, it's only Sunday, I doubt there will be many people around. You can leave at three if you want to,' I tell her.
'Well, dinner is only at seven or something, so I was thinking at five or something?'
'No, three is fine.' Mali gives me a confused look and I get it. Normally I need her to work longer because she is such a hard worker and tends to do everything quite flawlessly, but today I need her to be gone. Why? Because he is going to be here again and I finally gathered the guts to ask him out.
I think.
I hope.Too slowly, three pm starts to roll around. When the clock strikes three, the cafe is almost empty. Mali has changed into her normal attire again and sits in one of the booths to chill out for a bit. She said her brother is picking her up soon because she forgot her buss pass today and she didn't feel like buying a new one even though they are quite cheap.
I am tensed up every single time the door opens. It's four pm, the cafe is empty, but Mali is still here. By now, she's texting. She's probably getting tired of waiting for her brother and I don't blame her. The door opens again and there he is. Damn, he's so beautiful. A big smile spreads on his face when he looks at me. His pace quickens wen he walks up to the counter.
'Hey Baozi, how are you doing today?' he asks me cheerfully.
'Hey Luhan, I'm great, how are you?'
'Couldn't be better. Can I get my usual from you?' he asks, still as chirpy and cheerful.
'Of course. Take a seat, I'll bring it to you.' He comes here every single Sunday around four PM. I don't know why, but he does. We have started to grow a little closer to each other through the weeks and why the hell is he taking a seat with Mali and why is she laughing?
My feet start moving to make the coffee as quick as I can. I think this is the fastest I've every made a double espresso with whipped cream and cinnamon powder that looked this pretty.
'Here you go,' I say when I put the coffee down.----------------
Luhan's POV
'Bye Floyd, see you Monday!' I say through the office as I walk out.
'Luhan, are you going to the cafe Mali works at?' he asks before I can leave.
'Yes.'
'Tell her I'll be a bit later. I just need to finish some stuff up,' he explains.
'For sure dude. See ya,' I reply cheerfully and rush out the office. Today, I get to see him again. Aish, it's frustrating how important he has become to my daily routine. If I have a bad day, I just tell myself to wait for Sunday until I get to see that gummy smile again. Walking there feels like hours when it only takes ten minutes. The second I get him in my eyesight, my face displays the biggest smile that I have to offer.
'Hey Baozi, how are you doing today?' I ask him cheerfully. He is burning up and he doesn't even notice it. It's adorable.
'Hey Luhan, I'm great, how are you?'
'Couldn't be better. Can I get my usual from you?' I ask him.
'Of course. Take a seat, I'll bring it to you.' So polite, so friendly. I turn away to quickly find Mali in my eyesight. Before I know it, I am sitting on the opposite side of her booth.
'Hey Mali, your brother asked me to tell you that he'll be a bit later,' I tell her. She chuckles.
'Thanks Lu, but he's already an hour late, so I kind of expected it,' she says. I look over my shoulder to see Minseok working so neatly. 'Something is going on here,' Mali says suspiciously.
'Yes, I want to ask your boss out. How do I do it?' I ask her bluntly. She laughs at me, thinking it's a joke probably. But honestly I couldn't be more serious. Mali looks at her screen again.
'Ah, Floyd's here. Bye Luhan, have a nice day.' She rushes out of the cafe. Minseok takes her place in the booth and pushes my coffee towards me.
'Luhan, would you like to go out with me?' he asks out of the blue. I let out a small laugh.
'I was planning on asking you the same thing today.'------------------------
Mali's POV
'Morning Jimin,' I say cheerfully when I see my neighbor making coffee at the cafe I work at. He is always here early. Or at least earlier than me.
'Morning Mali,' he replies. I walk to the back and quickly get changed into my white blouse, dark brown vest and short, light brown apron. As I walk to the front again, I tie my hair up in a ponytail.
'Is Hoseok coming by today?' I ask Jimin. He chuckles.
'Are you chasing him or something?'
'No, but we have dance classes together and we need to make a choreography together.'
'Just call him.'
'Don't have his number.'
'I'll send you his number, because he isn't stopping by today,' Jimin says and hands me a cappuccino.
'Thanks,' I say, taking the cappuccino from Jimin, 'so are we on our own today or is Minseok still coming?'
'Minseok is already here, but a friend of his stopped by. They're over there,' Jimin says and points at a table in the front, next to the window.
'Aish, he's cute,' I tell Jimin.
'Don't even try. I think Minseok might like him,' he replies.
