'I'm going for a run!' I yell through the house, quickly realizing that Floyd left to go to work. I still haven't got used to not having him around 24/7. With my headphones on, I go out and start running.
Things have calmed down the last couple of days. We haven't really seen the group from Seoul anymore. We spotted them from across the street or in Tyler's, but neither of us wanted to get into a conversation and so we didn't. Though it is better this way, something has been chewing on me. What happened in Seoul? If what Chanyeol told me is true, we are in a lot of trouble. We being everyone who has the 7th sense.
My breathing becomes heavier as I get deeper into the forest close to our house. Something hooks onto my foot and I trip, falling down face first. Luckily, it hasn't been raining so I am not covered in dirt. Just a bit of leaves and some sand, things that I can easily wipe off. I turn around to look at what made me trip and see two men just laying there. My mind starts racing.
Are they dead? What are they doing here? Did they faint? Why did they faint at the same time? They don't look hurt. Are they just sleeping? AND WHY IS THERE A FREAKING TV THAT IS ACTUALLY WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREAKING WOODS?
I kneel down next to the taller one and try to hit his cheek to get him to wake up, but I feel something static about him before my hand can reach his cheek. I pull it away quickly. He seems to almost be covered in electricity. What is this? I move on to the other guy so that I won't get electrocuted, which I could probably take because of the 7th sense stuff but I am just not feeling it because getting electrocuted is still pretty painful, and hit his cheek carefully. He is freezing cold. What is going on here? It's obvious to me now that they both have the 7th sense and the tall guy's static body explains the working TV, though it doesn't explain how it got here, but now I don't know what to do. I hear a soft groan next to me. The one who feels freezing cold is waking up.
'Hey, are you okay?' I ask when he looks at me in surprise.
'Yeah, who are you?' he asks.
'Someone who is offering help. How did you two end up here?' His eyes widen and he shoots up.
'Two?' He turns around to see the other guy and I see a tear slide down his cheek. 'Dammit, he actually made it.' I've quickly decided not to ask where they're from until they've recovered for their sake. I guess I've started to understand why some people with the 7th sense stick together. You've got no one else and the traumas they - the army - cause you because of the running you do cut pretty deep. Only people like you understand that.
'My house is close by, we could get you two cleaned up before you go wherever you're headed,' I suggest, knowing that they won't be going anywhere soon with the state of the electric guy. He looks way worse than the frozen guy, who isn't frozen anymore but since I don't know his name he'll be Jack Frost now. He looks from me to the guy behind him and back to me.
'I can't touch him in his state,' he says.
'I can.' He looks at me in disbelieve, but seems to have the same mindset as me. Don't ask too many questions. My heavy legs drag down the stairs. At the sound of the creaking wood, Jack Frost shoots up from the couch, looking at me in a nervous state.
'How is he doing?' he asks concerned. Those two must've known each other long. Maybe they're brothers. I don't really know.
'He's still sleeping, but I think he'll wake up around sundown.'
'Shit, this is bad,' Frost says and runs his hands through his hair. He seems so stressed and I can't help but ask, going against everything that I promised myself.
'What happened?'
'We were running from the army and we got hit by something, but we kept running. I have no idea how we ended up there.' I nod.
'I've heard they have weapons that make your head fuzzy, which makes you faint eventually. Maybe they've used that on you,' I suggest. He nods.
'Could be. Hm, I need to call someone. Do you have a phone nearby?' I raise an eyebrow.
'Phone? Tap twice on the table,' I tell him. He looks confused.
'Why?' I move over to the
'Here, I'll show you,' I say and sit down next to him. As I said, I tap twice on the table and a screen pops up in front of our faces. 'Here you go,' I say, clicking what he needs. 'Now just type in a full name or number and press call.'
'I've never used anything like this,' he tells me.
'How? These things have been around for twenty years.'
'I guess Seoul is behind on their technology.' The confused look on my face is a bit too obvious.
'You're from Seoul?' He nods. 'Is one of you called Chen?' Now he looks even more confused than me and he leans back a bit in suspicion.
'Who is asking?'
'A girl who met Suho,' I tell him, remembering that Suho appeared to be the leader of the group. His confusion grows with the second.
'Does that mean you also met the others?' I nod. 'The one you put upstairs is called Chen. I'm Xiumin.' There is the little cringe again. People giving away their names to easily. Why do they keep doing this? It's not prudent. We hear the creaks of the stairs all of a sudden. Both our head snap to the sound and we see the taller boy, aka Chen, stand in front of the stairs, holding onto the railing tightly as if he is going to fall. We both rush over to him.
'Chen, go back upstairs, go sleep,' Xiumin almost begs him.
'Aniyo, aniyo, I want to know what's going on,' he says dauntlessly, but he's shaking. And he's gone. His body collapses on the ground like a rag doll. We both dive onto him to move him onto the couch. With our clumsy movements, I end up getting trapped with his head on my lap on the couch. Xiumin signs to me that I should stay in place.
'What now?' I ask him quietly.
'We call Suho,' Xiumin says and sits down in front of the couch. The call starts and I notice that I am starting to play with Chen's hair. Floyd used to lay his head on my lap all the time and it has become a habit for me to play with his hair. Even though I've noticed it, I'm not stopping. His hair is very soft and he seems to relax under my touch, which is what we need right now.
Suho's face pops up on the screen. He looks so worried when he sees the situation.
'Mali, how'd they end up at your place?' he asks in a state of worry.
'I found them in the woods. They're both doing fine, Chen just needs to rest a bit more,' I explain to him.
'Both? I only see Chen.' Xiumin stands up and walks up behind the couch where he is in the sight of the camera. Suho looks very relieved.
'Xiumin, you're fine. We all thought you were dead.'
'What? How? Why?' Xiumin asks.
'We received a picture just a few hours ago from Kris,' Suho says and a picture pops up. It's them, in the woods, but because of Xiumin's cold ability he looks very dead while Chen still has some color on his cheeks.
'That bastard.'
'So what now?'
