'Morning Chen, how are you feeling?' I ask as I walk into the room. The boy seems a lot more cheerful than a few days ago. He almost looks fully recovered.
'Great. I think we might be able to leave tomorrow.' He studies my face as it drops. 'I slept through the day again, didn't I?' I nod, disappointing the boy so much. You can see that he's hurt in those big eyes of his. He isn't recovered at all, though he does look like he has. Xiumin has living here too and Floyd seems to have accepted the fact that we are caught up in this mess, as this place has basically become the base of the people we've met in the last few days.
'Do you want to go out for a bit?' I ask with a sweet smile. He nods with a very big smile. I am the only one who takes him out anymore because the others are too scared he'll get hurt because of his state. The problem isn't that they can't lift him, but he goes into this protective state which creates a layer of electricity over his body. No one of them can touch him when he does that. I can.
'What are we going to do?' he asks as he jumps out of bed, ready to get dressed. I've been taking care of him long enough to not care about him walking around in underwear anymore. That is for all of them, but when I do it I get Floyd covering me up. Such a sexist world, even after all these years. They can keep their stuff in the pants, that's not a difficult thing to do. I got turned on in the beginning too and there's only of me. I had to deal with eight guys, Floyd not included of course because that would be platonic incest.
'We are going to the sea,' I tell him and leave the room, going downstairs. The house is awfully quiet. When I get in the living room I get why. The TV is on and shows scenes of Seoul on the news. It's very dirty. Suddenly there is a very vivid image on the screen of a man around our age getting beat up. They all gasp.
'Shit,' Suho says. 'I guess we can cross Lay off the list.'
'Who is Lay?' I ask.
'One of our friends. What are you doing downstairs?' Chanyeol asks.
'I'm taking Chen out,' I say casually and walk to the kitchen to get some food.
'Like hell you are,' Kai says and stands up from the couch. His body language tells me that he is angry about it. 'With all this shit going on, we are keeping Chen inside. What if he faints again?'
'I'll carry him.'
'What if they catch him?'
'I'll protect him.'
'You are staying here.' We have gotten awfully close. Our bodies are almost touching. I look up at him with a very stubborn look on my face while he looks furious. A smirk plays on my lips when I realize the easy situation I am in.
'Make me.' The tension is too high for him, he turns around a bit defeated and sits down on the couch again.
'Someone else want to try?' Suho asks. Suho is the only one who has already started to understand that there is a very slim change to win an argument with me.
'Fine,' D.O. says as he stands up, 'If they're going, we're all going.'
'Like hell you are,' I say with a snort. 'You all have work in a bit. I know this is serious business and all, but we still need the money.' He sits back down, mumbling something that the others seem very offended by. It was too quiet for me to hear. The Busan sea.
As I've said before, I can stare at it forever and never get bored. Though autumn is slowly turning into winter and it's getting colder to stay here for long, I still love it. Chen and I drag along the shore, not talking much. The streets of Busan are awfully quiet. Things are definitely changing.
'So, did Seoul have advanced technology?' I ask Chen out of curiosity.
'No, we couldn't even call outside of Seoul. You had to use special places for that. I think they were trying to contain everyone,' Chen explains. I nod, understanding why Xiumin didn't know how to make a call. 'What's that?' Chen asks, pointing in the distance. Something tall, probably a person, falls into the white sand.
'Shit,' I say under my breath and start running towards him, Chen following closely behind which isn't good for him right now. Finally I reach the person and turn him around so he can breath properly. 'Hey,' I say and softly hit his cheek a few times to keep him conscious, 'talk to me. What's your name?'
'I can't remember.' I frown, but quickly play it off.
'That's fine, we can figure it out later. Do you remember how you got here?'
'I ran.'
'From where?'
'Seoul?'
'You ran that far?'
'Where am I?'
'Busan.' A smile spreads on his face.
'I made it.' Instead of fainting, he seems to fall asleep peacefully. Chen finally reaches us and falls down into the sand next to me. He looks at the person.
'Shit,' he says out of breath. The house is empty, the couch is occupied, the kitchen contains two people. Chen and I talk.
'You know him, don't you?' I ask him. Chen nods. He looks so happy, but you can see the tears in his eyes as he looks at the man on the couch.
'His name is Lay. This morning we thought he was dead. You saw it too, on the news,' Chen says.
'So this is him? Why didn't he join you guys when you ran?'
'He was with us.'A loud scream behind the boys. A scream of pain and the thud of falling along with the sound of fabric rubbing over concrete. Xiumin and Chen look behind and slow down their pace, turning around when they see their companion on the ground in pain.
'NO!' Lay yells at them. 'RUN!'
'We are not leaving you behind!' Chen yells as he comes closer.
'DAMMIT CHEN! If you don't leave me here, we all die!' Xiumin grabs a hold of the taller guy and holds him standing in place. Tears run over their cheeks. They have to leave him behind. They know they have.
'RUN YOU IDIOTS!' Lay yells at them and finally the boys start running again. Away from Lay, away from Seoul, away from the mess they made.
