Floyd and I decided pretty quickly.
We had to find out what happened in Seoul. Ever since the people started to riot against our kind, Seoul hasn't been the same. The people who live there are either extremely rich, extremely poor, army or rebels. A lot of shit happens there. It also happens all the time.
'So you met him here?' Floyd asks as we are about to walk up the stairs to the bar I met that Sehun guy in. I understand why he says this. It was our father's favorite bar we're now in front of. I don't know why I went there when I needed a drink. Maybe because it was familiar. Nothing changed in there except for the people inside.
'Yes.'
'Okay, lets go.' I know he's just pretending that it doesn't do him anything. I've known him longer than today. We step in and find the same bartender as when I came in alone. Together we sit down on the bar stools and the bartender comes over to us.
'Is he your reason to not accept my offer?' the bartender asks, apparently remembering my face.
'My brother?' I ask him with a playful smile. The bartender nods understandingly. He gets how the situation is.
'So what can I get you?' he asks.
'Well, I was actually wondering if you know anything about the guy I talked to,' I carefully say.
'I know that he made quite a bit of fuss here. He was fighting with someone after you left, but that's it,' he tells me.
'Do you know anything about Seoul?' Floyd suddenly asks.
'Ah, he can speak,' the bartender says jokingly, 'no, but the tall fella over there is from Seoul. From what I can tell, he sells information.' We look over at the tall guy. He looks tired and done with everyone's shit, yet like a guy you could have a lot of fun with. His slender figure makes him look a bit clumsy as he sits slightly bowed over his drink while he plays with his glass.
'Thank you,' I say and we stand up from our chairs. Soon we sit in front of the guy. He leans back as soon as he sees us.
'Ah, the brother and the sister. I've heard about you two,' he says. 'Your name is Floyd and her name is Mali, isn't it? But you tend to tell people to call you baby so that you won't get in trouble.' Our jaws are in the magma that is in the center of the earth, that's how blown our minds are. Floyd's name is well known, but mine has always been a secret. He wanted to keep it that way.
'You know quite a bit, don't you?' Floyd says, crossing his arms. The guy front of us nods.
'I know everything I have to know,' he says with a confident smile.
'So what can you tell us about Seoul?' I ask him, leaning a bit forward over the table.
'Ah, someone told me you might come and ask me about that and I was asked to tell you without asking a fee. Since that person was a good friend, I will tell you.' He rambles about it. Why? 'I think you've heard of EXO, haven't you? Well, three of their members were convinced to join the army and now EXO has gotten a lot weaker. So they fled to Busan.' I raise an eyebrow.
'So why is everyone fleeing to Busan?'
'Jimin, from BTS was born here. They won't murder people like you here. It's too much of a risk since everyone knows Jimin has it.' Floyd lets out a small snort.
'Funny how people still think it's very rare to have it.' Suddenly there's a bit of noise coming from behind us.
'Chanyeol! You asshole! You almost got Kai killed!' someone yells out. We turn around to look, but at the same time we see our informant get up and walk up to the person. I take a second look. It's Baekhyun, the guy from the store. With swift movement I get up and look at the two of them.
'You know each other, don't you?' I ask the tall figure, 'You all do.' His name is apparently Chanyeol, because I've seen Kai and he looks nothing like him. Baekhyun stopped walking at the sight of me.
'Yes, we all do,' he says.
'Baekhyun, Sehun, Kai and Chanyeol. You all fled from Seoul.'
'That's rigth.' I run my hand through my hair, realizing how bad the situation is and walk out the door, my brother following close behind.
Baekhyun sits down with Chanyeol in the booth that had been occupied by Chanyeol, Floyd and Mali. He shakes his head.
'When will we tell her?' he asks Chanyeol.
'Never if we don't have to. We just keep playing dumb.' Baekhyun lets his fist hit the table. His frustration is through the roof.
'Chanyeol, she is in danger.'
'She isn't. As much as I'd like to believe that we can help her, we can't. She is too strong for them, so she can manage on her own.'
'You know just as well as me that her strength will never come out because of that trauma,' Baekhyun says, leaning over the table.
'Let's just wait on what Suho decides.' Beakhyun falls back against the couch, a bit disappointed in his friend, but he's right. There's nothing they can do right now, but play dumb and lead her on.
'So what now?' I ask Floyd as I throw my helmet on the couch before falling down onto the cushions myself.
'I guess we're fine for once. We can just look for a normal job and live a normal life as long as we don't leave Busan,' Floyd says a bit indifferent. We have never seen this before. An opportunity to live a normal life.
'This is weird,' I state, staring at the ceiling. My mind is lost. All I've ever thought about is where to go next, what is the best route to escape and how do we find food and shelter. Now I have to worry about getting a job. So weird.
'You know what, I'll get a job and you can do whatever,' Floyd suggest. I let out a big sigh.
'What am I supposed to do all on my own every day?' He seems as lost for words as I am. We spend the rest of day on the couch, not saying a word, just watching the world around us go by. We are lost.
It's strange. The very moment we don't have to run anymore, everything seems to crumble away. Running is all we know. All we do is run, all we do is hide, all we do is fear. We don't have to do any of that, so now what?
