Chapter Three
No Way Home
After calming the sobbing Conner down, I crawled into bed. At that point it was 3:00AM. I shut my eyes for just a moment and it was morning.
I was woken, mainly by the sound of Clary in a panic.
“What are we gonna do? The bus is completely screwed up and parts are missing. Don’t you dare tell me to calm down either Aylissa.”
Wait what? The bus was what?
I sat up, rubbing my eyes.
“What’s going on?” I asked.
“Lightning! The bus is all jacked up. The wheels and engine are missing.” Clary replied immediately.
The first thing that came to my mind was Conner.
“Conner?! Did he get home?” I jumped off my bed and landed not too gracefully on my feet.
I didn’t bother for an answer I just ran. Ran down the hall, through the living room and down the other hall until I reached his room. I nearly broke down the door. I looked around the room and found his girlfriend; Heather, sitting in his bed listening to music with her eyes closed.
I dashed over to her and ripped her off the bed. I don’t know why I was so worried but I just had to know. It was like something inside me was going to explode if I didn’t find out know.
She let out a surprised cry and glared up at me.
“What the heck do you want?” she asked venomously.
“Where is Conner?” I hissed back.
“He took the bus home earlier this morning. What do you care?” she stood and dusted herself off.
Yeah why did I care? He was just a small friend…why was I freaking out?
I shook myself and replied.
“Because, I wanted to make sure he got home safe.”
She rolled her eyes and put her ear plugs back in. I stuck my tongue out at her when she turned away and left the room.
Never liked Heather. She was the high school Cheer Captain and she was so self-absorbed, sometimes I thought she would implode.
I walked to the living room and looked at the grandfather clock. 9:37AM. I slept longer than I thought.
I sighed. I would have been outside hours ago with the others if that boy in the hoodie didn’t do whatever it is he did to me.
I sighed again and felt a cool breeze wrap around me. I gazed to my right and saw the front door open.
I stepped outside and noticed a crowd of people around the bus we road here.
I tilted my head to the side and pushed to the front of the crowd.
My eyes went wide as I saw our bus. All the wheels were gone and engine wasn’t just missing; the entire front of the bus was missing, the sides of the bus had long gashes.
What in the world did this to the bus? Was it the boy? No, that isn’t possible, he was outside the gate. Even then, whoever did it, had to be inside the gate last night. Maybe he found a way inside and then left before anyone coul- NO that isn’t possible, no one can lift an engine that big and take the tires to. Not without the night guards seeing them.
