Maya was beyond frustrated when she walked into school that morning.
Last night she had gone back to see if Riley was okay but was unable to reach her as her window was locked. As further explained by Riley through a peice of paper and a pad her father had 'locked the window and hidden the key'

It dawned on Maya when she woke up  that surprisingly her and Riley hadn't exchanged number and that would have been easier than trying to communicate through a closed window. Then again Maya didn't really have a 'working phone' anyway so it made sense.

Her father had come in anyway causing her to flee so now walking into school she felt miserable that things will even be the same here with Rileys dad being their teacher.

Her mood darkened when she walked into the class to find Darby sitting in Rileys desk and Riley sat at the back of the class.

Riley gave a forced smile her way but Maya just turned to look angrily towards Mr Matthews

'What is this Matthews?' The class were confused as to why Riley had been moved too but even more confused as to why Maya cared.

'Take your seat miss Hart he addressed her.
'I changed seats 2 days ago sir I sit up front next to ...Riley' Maya exclaimed but Mr Matthews just laughed

'In light of recent events you now sit up front, where  I can keep an eye on you, and Riley sits waaaay back there ...away from your influence' he spoke.

'Really that's how it's gonna be?' Maya questioned.

'Please take your seat Miss Hart' Corey repeated. Maya huffed and walked to her desk slumping into her seat.
'Ridiculous' she breathed crossing her arms.

'I'm sorry what was that?' Corey patronised.
'You know what?' Maya mumbled. She said she was up for the challenge and she wasn't kidding so here goes nothing ...

'RIDICULOUS!' Maya yelled 'I said YOU... ARE... BEING ... RIDICULOUS!' Maya stood from her seat slamming her hands on the desk. It was no surprise that Maya's attitude was spiteful, her actions were fair in her mind and well might aswell get into more trouble.

'Do you want to get sent to the principle' Corey remained still even though you could see his anger from the girl's audacity to call him out on that.

In any other case Maya wouldn't have cared but .. . She realises her impression probably mattered now and another run in with the principle after yesterday wasn't smart.
So she sat down
'Right now... Belgium 1837...' Maya didn't listen to the rest as she looked back at Riley and smiled
Riley mouthed an 'I'm sorry' and Maya just shrugged.
Sarah watched the entire exchange in curiousity.

....

'What was that?' Sarah had caught up with Maya after class running towards her then slowing to a walk to exchange some words.

'What was what?' Maya pretended to know nothing of what the girl was talking about.

'Come on Maya we're family just tell me' Sarah half pleaded.

'We weren't family when you ratted me out to the principle' Maya spat remembering yesterday's events which only added to her already bad mood.

'Oh listen I'm uhh really sorry about that' Sarah hugged her arms in comfort 'but come on Maya! You know what my parents are like ...they overreact about everything and if I got detention  then...' Sarah rambling begun to annoy Maya

'Alright!' She held her hand up to halt Sarah's words. Her expression soften.
'Yeah ...okay' Maya sighed knowing she was right 'I know how bad they are. I get you were trying to protect yourself, to be honest I would have done the same thing' Maya half smiled then shrugged. It seemed out of character for Maya but then again she only really needed to keep her reputation up in front of people ...Sarah didn't count, she grew up with Sarah, Sarah knows her.

'Yeah ...cheers' Sarah said 'so will you tell me? About you and Riley.' She got on.

'Her father is mad that we are friends' Maya's expression screamed disappointment. Might aswell tell someone.

'So you and little Miss sunshine are friends' Sarah concluded a little shocked still.

'YES Sarah... now focus on the real problem at hand' Maya crossed her arms as they continued to walk.

'Which is that you can't be her friend anymore?' Sarah half questioned.

'Exactly' Maya acted slightly chill about the situation even though she was slightly freaking out inside.

'Why do you care so much about staying her friend I mean you too are complete opposites!' Sarah yelled slightly.

'Damn chill out Sar, I just umm...' Maya couldn't tell her the truth, that would be incredibly stupid. Then she sparked an idea.

'I want to get under Matthews skin, I mean he doesn't want me to be friends with her daughter then...' Maya smirked ' it would be incredibly satisfying to be her friend since it would get to him' Maya explained feeling a slight pang of guilt at the words she was letting out.

'Isn't that unfair to Riley ...kinda seems like your using her to get a rise out of our teacher ' that did not help Maya's guilt at all.

'Not really' the blonde reasoned however  ' I actually enjoy being her friend, I have a certain interest in her' Maya vaguely spoke.

By now they had reached the classroom and Maya retreats inside after smirking at Sarah who seemed satisfied with that explanation and headed towards her next class.
