I followed Aaliyah and my brother through the maze of hallways to a door that said 'Shawn Mendes'. It surprised me that my brother had known the way around so easily but he told me he had accompanied Shawn a couple of times to the arena when he performed here.
"While his car was in the garage, I would drive him here and drop him of here. Well, that was the plan but he always told me that I should stay with him. In the end I did stay. As much as I hate to admit it, because you know how I am about guys such as Shawn and Justin Bieber, the guy's a good performer. He's the only guy I would ever aprove of."
"Aprove of how?" I asked.
"Aprove of as in aprove of to be with you."
"What are you trying to say, Ollie?" I asked.
He sighed, stopping me as Aaliyah walked straight in without knocking. "I'm saying that you should give the guy a chance. He's nice and good. He wouldn't hurt you. It means a lot if I say that he is good enough for you. Not everybody is."
"It's not hard to be enough for me." I argued. "Look at me, I would be lucky if I were ever to get together with anyone. It's not the other way around. I'm too messed up for that."
"That's not true, Char, you know that. You are not too messed up to be a prize for someone one day. One day you will find someone that will look at you as if you were his most prized trophee and treat you like a queen. Maybe you will find him sooner than you think."
"Ollie, Shawn's not the guy for me. Trust me, I'm doing him a favor by being a bitch and staying out of his life."
He sighed angrily, frustrated by how I was acting and what I was saying but just pushed open the door and walked in, me following him. I smiled softly at the guys around the room and nodded once at Shawn but didn't say anything, instead I sat down next to Aaliyah on the bench.
I was yet again with my phone in my hands, looking at the news. I was reading an article on the Grammys when I heard a girly voice stutter. Looking up, I saw one of Shawn's fans slowly walking to him while he held his arms open so she could come and hug him.
His fan was wearing a hoodie from his merch line and was shaking like a leaf, she was that nervous.
A sigh was heard when he wrapped his arms around her and she closed her eyes, most likely savouring the feeling of being in her idol's arms. She pressed closer to him and I snapped a picture of his head as it looked so peaceful. This is what he wanted to do, this is what he was meant to do and made him happy.
I smiled at Aaliyah who was looking at me with a weird look. She shook her head with the same weird glint in her eyes but I focused back on Ollie who was talking to another man in hushed tones.
"Who is my brother talking to?" I asked Aaliyah.
"That's Shawn's manager. The two of them- your brother and him- always talk about business. For some reason, Shawn's manager always discusses it with Oliver if he can't do it with my father. Like now, Dad didn't come with so he discusses it Ollie. I don't know why."
"My brother may not have a college degree but he is good at business. He's always had an eye for it."
"Why did he not study it?"
"He didn't complete High School. He dropped out in his last year because he wanted to go to work. If he had just held out a couple of more months, he would've been able to go to college if he wanted- not that I would have seen him do that."
"Why not?" Aaliyah asked, turning to me to show me she was genuinely interested. "I've seen how he gets when he talks about business, his eyes show his excitement. If he could've studied it, why don't you think he would do it?"
