Chapter 16

Wednesday couldn't come soon enough. I had slept at Shawn's house and he had dropped me off Sunday morning very early on in the morning but that was also the last time I had seen him.

That Sunday I had spent time with my family to celebrate my birthday. We had watched my favorite movies together and had spent the entire day doing some fun stuff together. It had been one of the best birthdays in my life, the only thing missing was my sister Stephanie.

However Steph had sent us a mail in which she told us that she was coming to Canada for two weeks to spend some time with me for my birthday and just to be with her family because she had to adjust as well. I think that the Skype sessions we have multiple times a week aren't enough for her which I get because I wouldn't be able to function without my family closeby.

Monday I had gone to work with Ollie in the diner he is employed at. I helped out there because they were quite busy and didn't have enough staff. It had been a fun day and I had never participated that I would enjoy doing it so much.

The day had been fun all in all, I had laughed with some customers that came there often, the other staff had been fun and the experience itself was amazing.

Ollie tried to convince me to choose to continue that profession and become a waitress instead of a Social Assistent as I always wanted to become but as much as I enjoyed my time there, it was not in my plas to do it fulltime.

Tuesday I spent at the diner as well, helping out until one of the students would come. When she came, I went back home and got ready before leaving again. I had been inside for all of 15 minutes before I went to the local mall. Dad had given me some money to get some clothes and since I had nothing better to do with my day than to sit at home with my phone in my hands, I decided to go to the mall.

At first I had wanted to ask Clarissa and Maybelle with me but she was out with a guy she had met and Maybelle had gone with her. The two weren't together, they were just friends but she did have feelings for him. Despite her feelings, she wouldn't start anything with him because of her daughter. She wanted Maybelle to meet her friend and her friend wanted to meet Maybelle.

So in the end I went alone because Mom and Dad went to Seattle for the weekend for some celebration they had been invited to. Even after only three months of living here, Dad was part of the elite part of the society. In Belgium Dad had been in possession of some powerful contacts around the world so it was no surprise when it became clear quite quickly that us moving here wasn't going to change our social title.

It had never really been of importance to me or to my siblings. Even my mom wasn't affected by it, to us it just meant that Dad had to accompany some pretty powerful people to some functions that were most likely going to be mentioned in National News. In fact, he has already met Barack Obama... sort of.

Barack Obama came to Belgium two times while Dad was working for the Minister of Internal Affairs. He had been one of the top ranged workers in the cabinet and had been a trusted friend of the man so he had been invited to accompany him to welcoming him to the country. Of course he had never been really close enough to Obama to speak to him but he still sort of met him.

It's not something I normally brag about something though because it's not something that everyone needs to know.

Finally Wednesday came around and I was ready to go to Orlando. Shawn and I would meet at the airport before 9 because our flight would leave then, and then around two in the afternoon we would be in Orlando. We would go to our hotel immediately and only go to the parks tomorrow.

I had packed three outfits and two spare outfits with two pyjama sets and some other necessities. If it wasn't for Mom, I only would've packed three outfits instead of five. But no, Mom insisted on me packing extra outfits- at least two fancy dresses for the evenings we go out because Dad made reservations for me and Shawn in two high end, fancy restaurants that we had to try out.

"Mom, Dad, I'm out! Ollie, let's go!" I yelled, running down the stairs.

The trip to the airport was thankfully not that long and I quickly walked through the many hallways to where Shawn and I had agreed to meet. He had sent me a text he was stuck in traffic but would be there in a couple of minutes, not more than fifteen.

In the meantime, I would go to Starbucks and get a coffee for me and Shawn. I knew by now what coffee he preferred so I could buy one for him and not to forget the muffin. The muffins my mom always makes have always somehow dissapeared when Shawn comes around and that is just... well, it's irritating as hell because I also happen to like my muffin and they always disappear so now I would buy one for him and one for me.

"There you are." Shawn said as I walked out of the coffee shop. "I've been looking fo- what are those?"

"Muffins. Blueberry for you and chocolate chip for me. Here's your coffee." I told him, handing him the muffin and his coffee.

"Are you ready for the plane ride?"

"Nervous, this will be the second time I've ever been in a plane."

"The second time?" He asked shocked with a mouth full of muffin.

"You couldn't wait a couple of minutes to eat your muffin, could you?"

He shrugged, looking all innocent. "What can I say? I like my muffins. Now, are you ready for our trip?"

"Yup, I've been looking forward to it for so long. Are you?"

"Well, with you here, I might just be ready to take the world."

"I'm sure that one day, you'll take the world by yourself." I told him, quite sure that there would be a day that Shawn would take the world with his voice and his talent.
