The meeting had taken longer than we thought. It had started at 1.30, which was already 30 minutes later than planned. Andrew had initially planned for the meeting to take only an hour at most but it had lasted an hour and a half longer so now at four in the afternoon, Shawn and I had walked into his home to spend some time together.
He had listened to me and had cancelled our afternoon together, he had to call someone on a boat to cancell a trip he planned for us. I couldn't help but think that it sounded an awfully lot like a date. I didn't tell him that because I didn't want to give him false thoughts about my feelings for him.
Instead we would spend some time alone at his house because his parents had gone somewhere for the weekend with Aaliyah and we would still be alone. He had planned something in his house as well, something for the both of us.
He had called multiple times in the car while he had taken me to my house. At the front door, my mom had given me a bag with clothes and necesseties for tomorrow. It was clear that he had gotten permission to let me stay over at his house. I was quite sure that there were rules though and that Dad was expecting me home at a certain time in the morning.
I had never expected for Shawn to have gone all out and planned a candle lit dinner for me. Am I still the only one that thinks these things sound an awfully lot like a date? The boat thing and now this...
Even my parents hadn't gone all out like this. This morning they had gone out to buy everything they needed to make me a big and nice breakfast for my birthday. My siblings had gone out to get me a present from them and two for Shawn but he didn't give them because he was saving them for tonight.
I had gotten some new Harry Potter merch from my family and I had absolutely no idea what Shawn got me, normally I could make an image of what was inside a present but this was different, this was a box- who knew what was inside it?
Before the dinner, he had sent me to his room with my bag and told me to change into a dress because this was a special occasion.
Well, okay then...
I did what he asked and got changed into a dress. My mother had chosen a black dress with baby blue pumps. With a groan I had given in and put on the pumps because it was not as if my boots were suitable for the dress.
I even went all out and put on earrings, necklace, bracelet and rings. My earrings were long drop earrings and my necklace was multi stranded, I wore two bracelets- a big one and a small one- and I wore my Swarovski ring.
My hair stayed the same and I didn't wear any make up at all. I knew Shawn prefered me natural and not caked with make up.
"Wow." Shawn had said as I came down the stairs. "You look breathtaking. If this is how you look for your birthday dinner, how will you look for our date?"
"Our date?" I asked as I took a seat in the chair he had pulled out for me. "What date? I don't remember agreeing to a date with you."
"Like I said before, I will get my date with you. You will break at a certain point and you will say yes, you will go out on a date with me."
"What makes you so sure?"
"Well, for one- you may think you're not that obvious with your feelings but let me tell you, you make them very clear for me. Your eyes are an open book, I can read them, read you. You are a very closed off woman, I am grateful that I can read your eyes because they tell me what I need to know. That's how I've been so sure that you will say yes one day."
I was stunned, I didn't know what to say. I actually thought I was better in hiding my emotions, I didn't think that my eyes could ever betray me but then again, they always say that the eyes are the windows to the soul.
