Ariel's POV
"I am leaving." Eli said, bluntly. The pack started to murmur and whisper amongst each other. "Quiet! I am not leaving permanently, I just have a few things to take care of, and I will be gone for awhile. I have chosen Xavier to tend for the needs of the pack while I am away. I need to say right now that this pack is one. There is nothing that can tear us apart. We work better as a team than against each other."
Xavier was standing next to his brother. His head was head held high and he stood up straight. He need to look more professional now. I wonder how Xavier will hold up, it was a lot to ask of a thirteen year old.
I leaned over to Eli,"Eli, I could help Xavier. You know I have Alpha blood too."
He sighed, "Ariel, dear, I know you want to help but they would never allow it. It's your members against everyone else. You have no experience and no training, they would overthrow you before you could even say anything."
"Thanks for your confidence." I huffed.
Eli turned back to the pack, "Julian and Garth, I am just saying this once. You too, will have to keep your comments to yourself. You all might think that there is three packs here, but there's not. Ariel's pack belongs here because Ariel is my mate. Garth, your pack belongs with us because I am Ria's father and she is also your family. We are all one and all together. There is no reason why we all can't live together without trying to kill one another."
I looked at Julian and Garth, you could tell that they were thinking of something else. I turned to Eli, and his shoulders were raised with tension. I guess he knew it too.
"Anyone who listens to Garth or Julian will be exiled along with them, any questions?" Eli asked.
They all nodded in agreement. They didn't want to be exiled. It was a weakness of the werewolf. It takes a very strong and independent wolf to be a loner. Wolves are stronger together and they can survive much easier.
Eli excused himself from the group and went back to the study. Xavier was still in shock that Eli elected him Alpha instead of their father or Garth, but I could see why Eli appointed Xavier. He would do a great job in Eli's place and he wont have any troubles returning the position when Eli gets back.
I was watching Eli typing at the keyboard. Eli turned to look at me and then frowned when he saw my sad facial expression, "My dear, what is wrong?"
"I don't want you to leave me again." I whispered.
"Darling, I am not leaving you. I am leaving so I can be with you." Eli corrected, "Now, I want to go to your dad and take you from him, and be clean just like he wanted."
"I don't like it when you talk that way about my dad. He was the one who raised me and thought I was his actual daughter. He didn't turn me away when I told him that I could change into a wolf, and you want to take me away from them." I argued.
He sighed, "Ariel, your dad is never going to like me so why should I try any more. I tried to work things out, but he is too stubborn to listen to me or understand the situation I was in. He won't beilieve me but I want to make it right again. I will by getting clean."
I smiled, faintly. I knew Eli was just upset that my father didn't trust him anymore, and I couldn't blame him. Eli said he would love me forever and he leaves me for another girl. He was mean to me and he pushed me away. My father had every right to be mad at Eli, but Eli was trying his hardest to make everything right again.
I waited for Eli to be done with his work. It told a long time because I kept interrupting him. He wouldn't get angry with me, he would just smile and answer my questions. I wanted to spend our precious time together actually doing something, not watching Eli do work, but I guess it was better than not seeing him at all.
