“J-Jordan? A-Are you here?” I whispered shakily into the empty and rather dead looking apartment. “It’s only me…”
“What are you doing here, doll?” a gruff voice slurred, feet shuffling towards me from behind. My body tensed and I slowly turned around to find a tall and burly man standing there, a drunken smirk plastered on his chapped lips.
“St-stay away from me,” I tried shakily, stepping backwards only to trip over the edge of the coffee table, my body tumbling to the floor so he was looming over, a sinister look in his eyes.
“You’re a pretty little thing aren’t ya, lass…” he cackled, taking a swig out of the bottle in his hand before throwing it aside haphazardly and roughly grabbing the top of my arms. “Come give me a little love, baby.” My eyes widened and I thrashed, trying to pull away from him but he easily lifted me, his fingers digging into my skin painfully so.
“L-let me go!” I cried, trying to kick him, succeeding in making contact with his knee when I realized the grave mistake I had just made. His eyes darkened and I was suddenly shoved into the wall, my head colliding with the drywall and leaving a dent, the impact excruciating.
“Don’t be a bitch like your sister was,” he spat, dribbles of saliva spraying disgustedly across my face.
“W-was?” I choked, my body freezing in shock. Maybe I was just reading into his words. Yeah…that had to be it.
“Oh, you didn’t hear?” he smirked, his face drawing closer so his nose brushed mine. “The little horror OD a week ago. Found her in the bathroom dead.”
“You’re lying,” I whispered. “YOU’RE LYING!” He let out a low snarl and I was thrown roughly to the floor, my body skidding against the hardwood.
“Don’t insult me. I wouldn’t lie about it. She’s not worth it,” he growled, a halfhearted kick being sent to my leg. I glared at him and forced myself to my feet, turning around confidently and striding towards the door. Big mistake. I was yanked back by my hair, a squeal flying from my lips.
“Where do you think you’re going?” he slurred in my ear.
“You ever heard of Liam Payne?” I tried, trying to find an out of the situation. I knew I had something when a bit of shock flashed over his face before it hardened again.
“What about him?”
“I’m his girlfriend,” I hissed, satisfaction coursing through me as his eyes grew wide. “And I can promise you that he will kick your sorry ass if you don’t let me go.”
“What’s your name, girl?” he asked gruffly, his gaze piercing right through me.
“Brinlee. My name is Brinlee,” I muttered, relieved when his fingers let go. I made a mad dash for the door, but not before I heard one frightening, suddenly sober phrase come from his mouth as if he was never drunk.
“Boss is gonna love this…”

My hand hovered over the door, knowing that the boys were most likely awake and furious. I swallowed thickly and knocked lightly on the door, quick footsteps approaching before the door was wrenched open, Louis standing there with a dark stare.
“You are so dead,” he hissed, tugging me inside and slamming the door. “LIAM, SHE’S BACK!” There were thuds of someone running down the stairs and Liam came clambering into the entryway, a concerned look displayed clearly on his face.
“Thank God you’re okay,” he sighed, ushering Louis and I both to the living room. “Where did you go? H-How did you even get past us?”
“You were asleep,” I mumbled, curling my legs up in front of me, creating a barrier between Liam and I.
“You could have been killed, Brin. How stupid are y-“ Louis began when the boxer beside him sighed and slapped him on the arm.
“She’s back and she’s okay, that’s all that counts,” he smiled at me, expecting a similar response but I only glared at them both. “I-Is there something wrong, babe?”
“Yes, Liam,” I said emotionlessly. “ There actually is. When did you plan on telling me MY DAMN SISTER IS DEAD, YOU BASTARD?!” His eyes grew wide as saucers and adam’s apple bob, a look being shared with Louis.
“Honey, I’m so-“ he began but I cut him off.
“DON’T EVEN!” I screamed, tears steadily slipping down my cheeks. “THE LAST OF MY FAMILY IS DEAD. I AM ALONE. AND YOU THINK YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO NOT TELL ME. WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME, LIAM?!”
“I was going to but you’re already going through so much, Brinlee,” he said softly, trying to inch closer to where I was standing. “I was trying to protect you.”
“I DON’T CARE. MY-MY SITER IS DEAD AND YOU DIDN’T TELL ME. I DIDN’T EVEN GET TO SAY GOODBYE,” I sobbed, all of my anger dissolving into grief as I slapped the broad chest in front of me, loud gasps flying from my lips as I did it again and again, harder and harder, my fists pounding against him as I slowly yet surely began become weaker and weaker.
“Why didn’t I get to say goodbye, Li? Wh-why did she leave me?” I whimpered, leaving one last hit to his chest before slumping into him. “Wh-why does it hurt so bad?”
“I know, baby. I know,” he murmured into my hair, holding me close as I sobbed unashamedly into his chest. For the second time in only a few days, I was almost positive that the only thing that was keeping me from falling apart were the arms that held me so tightly.
“Why, Li?” I whispered, his lips pressing to the top of my head.
“I don’t know, Brinlee. I wish I knew why, but I don’t. I-I’m sorry,” a sob escaped my lips.
“I’m so sorry…”
