Chapter 24.

Layler's POV.

I get settled on the seat that is right next to the window. As the plane takes off I look outside on my left side and I see Jerry looking right at me. See you on the flip side cuzzie.
Minutes later we’re in the clouds and I cannot help but think of Jerry. He really wanted to have a child with me.
It broke my heart to see him on his knees and it is for that reason alone that I decided to walk away, it's better this way. I cannot be with my cousin that is just wrong.

I turn on my laptop and when I open my emails I find a compressed folder from Bauti, I load the document and the minute I click on it, it shows that it is a video.
The video shows all our pictures from the day we started dating back in 9th grade. The song playing in the background is Worldwide by Big time Rush. I smile at most of the pictures.

I pause when a picture of me, Maxine, Alvaro, Fermin and Bauti shows, we were going to our annual school dance. I was wearing a black mermaid dress and it covered every part of my body and it was skin tight. I didn't have makeup on and I was wearing black 3 inch heels and my brunette hair was let loose, Fermin asked me that day if he forgot that we were attending a funeral.

Maxine was wearing the same as me, just that her colours were turquoise and she had her maroon, red and black hair tied in a bun, she was one for dyes...we didn't like showing skin at all. Alvaro was wearing black jeans, a black shirt and a turquoise jacket ...he said he decided that he was coming with us last minute. Bauti as well but his jacket was red, Fermin was the only one dressed elegantly, he wore a maroon tux, his shirt was white and his sharp nose shoes were white as well.

In the picture Bauti had picked me up, Fermin was looking over Bauti’s shoulder as if they were looking at a child, Maxine was next to Bauti smiling, her dimples were visible, Alvaro was lying on the floor. I screenshot the picture and decide that I will make it my screensaver later on.
I keeping going through the pictures.

My heart breaks as I see the second last picture, it is the scan of our child, it's not clear much but at the top it's written my angel.
My eyes start to water as I read at the bottom Tista-Lee he went as far as giving her a name? He knew deep down that we could have had a daughter. I gave him the scan 3 months after the abortion, I guess he has held on to it since.

The last picture is a message.

I never got the opportunity to let you know how much you mean to me. I still love you till this day Stains.

I close my laptop and I wipe my tears as I look outside the window.
Maybe Alvaro was right, maybe we still love each other, even so...we can never really work out, and things are different now.

I fall asleep throughout the whole flight and I wake up to check the clock and I realize that it's only 1pm this side. I head out of the plane then I get my bags and as I am looking around a young boy approaches me, he looks like my age mate.

"Madam...I am Emeka Ezudo" Emeka? I have heard that name somewhere.

"Mr Alvaro said I should show you around"

"Oh, Emeka right? I am tired right now, I just want to get home, shall we?"

"Okay let me help you with your bags"
He takes my bags and then he leads me to a red Range rover sport. He opens the door for me and I tell him never to do that again and that I am not "madam" I am "Layler".

It takes us 45 minutes or so to arrive at the house, some strange guy opens the gate for us.

"Uhmmm Emeka? Who is that?"

"Oh that is Okafo...the gateman"
Oh okay gateman and a driver? Alvaro better be paying.

When we enter the yard the house looks too big for one person.
I enter the house and a woman comes to me.

"Hi madam Layler, I am Jessica" The nice woman says, finally! A name I can pronounce.

"I am your house help"

"Oh, please do not call me madam, I am Layler" I say as we shake hands.

"How are you?"

"I am good and you?"

"All good. Okay Layler can I get you anything?"

"No please show me my room, I would love to sleep"
