So I am sick AGAIN! Aparently I never really got better....oh well though! I can still write! Besides...well, I have a lot of projects due in the next two weeks so it'll slow me down...I'm sorry! Thank you for reading and tell me what you think!

“Me either,” she analyzed and chuckled. Her expression of ease wasn’t long lasting. Her eyes widened and darkened when her eyes scanned the room, “We have to leave as soon as possible. Now.”

“What…?” I asked in confusion and looked around the room. It had a dark, distorted look and I acknowledged the sight as the same from last night, except more extreme. Shadows of Asmodeus.

CHAPTER 8

Kenna closed her eyes and glowed slightly, her body letting off the sky light of the moon and it soon made me cringe and cover my eyes. The light tore apart the shadows and their screams echoed in my thoughts, making me feel sick to my stomach.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” Kenna asked me with a sad air.

“Positive,” I smiled at her. She didn’t argue any further and hurried outside with me on her heels.

Josh stood out there already, the forest seeming to try to hide him in the shadows. “Do you have everything?” he asked.

“Yes, can we please hurry?” Kenna asked, seeming exceptionally on edge. I nodded, folding my arms and looking to the mansion cabin with a sense of regret.

“The shadows can’t hurt anyone, can they?”I questioned.

“No. They only serve as ‘spies’ of Asmodeus. Almost like security cameras,” Josh explained as we all started walking.

“Do they have any…qualities of being alive?” I asked, remembering how they screamed when Kenna gave off that light directly from the moon. The concept was mind boggling, but then again so was this entire situation.

“They might…but I don’t think they do,” Kenna assured me. I bit my lip and hugged myself, feeling suddenly like I had just abandoned something.

“Oh!” I squeaked.

“What?” Kenna asked.

“Pup! I have to get her!” I squeaked.

“You can’t, Erin, we have to keep going…and she wouldn’t be safe going with us,” Kenna frowned.

“But we can’t leave her!” I said.

“Kenna,” Josh said and offered a smile, “we should let our dear Erin go get Pup.”

Kenna went to argue but I didn’t wait for her to argue, I took off running, having enough permission as it was. Quickly, I back tracked the path we had walked and dodged around the collected roots of the trees. I reached the cabin, and stood at the terrace. “Pup!”

A squeak came from the house and I heard little paws beating the wooden floor and Pup came skidding to my side, wagging her tail like a helicopter propeller. I laughed and heaved her into my arms, yelping as she eagerly gave me a million and two kisses.

“Pup!” I whined and quickly started back to where I had left Kenna and Josh. All the while, Pup found it acceptable to squirm and kiss my jaw. Finally, I set her down and she trotted by my side, weaving like a cat between my feet. I swear she was going to trip me.

I inclined my gaze and saw Kenna smiling at Josh in a wickedly teasing way and his cheeks were vaguely flushed, but otherwise he had an on the fence look.

“What’d I miss?” I asked and Kenna gave me that same mocking grin.

“Oh, nothing. Well, you’ll find out soon enough,” she sang and plucked Pup up from the ground with a chuckle. “Shall we go?”
