“Should we move then?” I asked. I knew if we were in any danger than we should find a new place to stay but Kenna shook her head.
“No,” she answered.
“But…”
“No, we aren’t done here. There may be clues to where Garion is and…,” she shook her head, “We’re safe for now.”
But I still felt cold. Maybe it was just me or even the winter chill. But either way, it enabled me to feel doubt in her choice. Did she choose that we were “safe” only to bring her closer to Garion? Was she compromising our safety because of him? Because this was where Garion was most likely to go if he escaped? His childhood home?
Though, just like Kenna predicted, nothing happened and we were seemingly unscathed for two weeks.
But all good things come to an end.
CHAPTER 27
Drake wasn’t satisfied with the fighting abilities of Josh and Kenna. I don’t know how he figured that since I’m sure Kenna could splice him in seconds and Josh could shred him in another.
He argued that if they were in a position in which they couldn’t use their powers, they would be demolished and defeated in moments.
Kenna tried to argue that wouldn’t happen unless the moon imploded but Drake’s glare made her fall silent and she muttered something that made Al snigger.
Anyways, Drake insisted they learn to use proper weapons since teeth, claws, and the magic from the moon was extremely unorthodox on his standards.
Some part of me wished to call him a hypocrite seeing as how he gained his ability but that was another story.
“You need to learn how to wield weapons,” Drake insisted.
After some pouting, Kenna offered to try it out first.
He gave her a standard long sword and had her go against Al. At first, she was choppy, insufficient in fighting, defeated by Al’s professional maneuvers and clumsy for the sword. Five minutes into it, she had Al on his back and held the point to his neck with a smirk, “Well, that was easy!”
Drake’s expression was a mixture of distaste, incredulity, and irritation. Sometimes, he could be a real pain in the-
“Well, I got to say Drake. I really don’t think Kenna needs training,” Al notified him as he came to a stand. I noticed him favor his left leg and was grateful that he was a hunter and experienced otherwise my Wolf Loved friend would have broken his leg in two.
“So I see,” Drake spoke stiffly and turned to Josh and suggested he take a standard sword. Kenna skipped over, looking highly thrilled with herself and handed Josh the sword she used to annihilate Al. “Have at it,” she winked at him and popped over to my side.
“Drake may just kill you in your sleep now,” I whispered.
“He’s not very nice, you know,” she huffed, “I’m not strong enough…bah!”
