Chapter 2 Part 1

Edward Cullen

I paused at the front door. I made sure I was ready for the questioning and worried faces before I walked in. I peeked through the window, Jacob was pacing, Bella was sitting on the couch being comforted by Esme and Alice, Emmet and Rosalie were sitting off to the side talking to each other with worried expressions, and Carlisle was sitting there staring at me, he gave me an intense look that said get-in-here-everyone-is-worried-sick! I opened the door and walked in everyone was staring at me, I stared back at them. Before I knew it Bella was standing in front of me, bombarding me with questions "Where is she!? What the heck was wrong!? Is she ok?! TELL ME!" she was pretty much yelling, "It's. The. Volturi." I said through my teeth. It looked as if Bella were about to collapse, I picked her up and put her on the couch.

I turned to face everyone, "She had a bad dream about them." I said.

"What happened in the dream?" Jacob asked.

"Jane happened." I replied.

"She was sitting in a field, in the middle of the night and Jane, Alec, Aro, Marcus, and Caius, came over to her. She was sobbing, she looked at them and then Jane started. Renesmee screamed and that's where it cut off. Jasper is with her keeping her calm, they are in the cottage." I told everyone.

Jake was staring at me with his eyes so wide it looked like they were about to fall out of their sockets. I listened to his thoughts 'I need to see Nessie. I need to see Nessie. I need to see Nessie.' I nodded to him. He took off out the door and shot straight toward the cottage.

I sat down by Bella and held her close to my chest. "It looks like we need Jasper here too." I said.

"Can we please go?" Bella looked at me with pleading eyes. If we go, Jasper will be there and she will be calm. If we stay, she won't stop worrying and she won't be calm until she sees Nessie. "I guess." I said sheepishly.

She stood up "Let's go. Now." she said. I stood up and walked to the door with her. I looked at Carlisle "Don't let anyone else come. We will come back when Nessie is ready." I told him, he nodded.

We ran through the woods in silence, I knew Bella would be even more nervous if we talked about Nessie and I knew she would bring it up. When we were getting closer to the cottage, I stopped, "Bella, I need to hunt, I won't be long." I told her. "Ok, hurry." she said in a stern voice. I started running west, towards the coast line, I didn't smell anything yet, I kept running. I was about one-hundred and seventy miles away from the coast when I caught the scent of some elk. I went after them.

When I was full I headed back towards the cottage. I hadn't been very long, longer than I had hoped but not terribly long.
