Ch.1 Life As Usual

The scent of rabbits are all around. Quietly me and the rest of the prey hunters creep around the damp grass hoping that we will catch a glimpse of a rabbit or even a deer. As we lock the rabbits in our sights we spread out Breeze our prey leader heads down wind with Flick, as I quietly wander up wind to drive the three plump rabbits towards Breeze and Flick. As my scent drifts down with the wind they all try making a run for safety, one drives itself into the awaiting jaws of Flick and Breeze bolts after the other frightened rabbit.  After a quick chase Breeze and Flick snap the neck of their catches and proudly we start to trot back to camp.
"This is a good catch, But.. Is that enough to feed our Seven other pack mates?"I Question
"She has a point"Remarks Flick
"I agree, does everyone feel up to a swim to get some fish?"Cleverly answers Breeze
"Yes" We both agree

Leaving our catch at the top of the lime grass bank we swiftly leap down to the cold shallow water below
"We must make this quick" orders Breeze
I scan the clear water and six fish glide below the surface, gently placing one white socked paw in the water I get reddy to swipe, I swipe two out of the water onto the shore then put them out of their misery. Now with two fish in my jaw I leap onto the bank and lay beside all the mouth watering prey, that I want to eat. as I wait for my fellow hunters.

First Breeze comes with three small fish in her jaw then Flicker with one regular sized fish. By now the Sun is nearing its lap across the sky, we walk into camp dragging and carrying our catch into the prey sharing circle everyone gathers around.
"Nice catch prey team, well lead Breeze" complements Alpha
"Thank you Alpha" Answers Breeze
"Yes thank you" me and Flick reply
Alpha steps forward and picks up a plump rabbit followed by Beta who takes the biggest fish then Breeze takes a small fish and a morsel of a rabbit and Stone picks up a fish that I caught. I take one of the fish I caught followed by Bolt, Flick, Shine then sadly only a morsel of a rabbit for Stride.

I lick my lips as I trot to my den, curl into a ball then drift of to sleep.

"Raven, quickly! get up, I heard something.."pleaded Breeze
"Huh, what do u think it is?"I moan
"I'm pretty sure it's a dump squirrel that wandered into camp but I'm no sure..."Answered Breeze
"I'm getting it if it is" I cheekily reply
Stumbling to my wobbly feet I quietly wander across the plains behind Breeze, Sniffing the cold morning air I catch a strong scent of a lone female deer up wind of us not that far away quickening my pace then I see Alpha stalking the deer, I creep towards him.
"Shall I attack or do u want the kill Alpha?"I quietly question
"This is my kill, But thank you for asking Raven"He answered
Shuffling back I watch my powerful leader creep and pounce on the deer. Biting and death shaking the studded deer before it falls to the ground. Dead.
"What a foolish deer..." Remarks Alpha
" I agree" me and Breeze reply as we march up to the prized kill.
By now we have drawn attention from are entire pack.
"Your choses Beta shall we have a treat or store for winter?"Suggested Alpha
"Store it I think Alpha most of us had a good feed last night"Answered Beta
"Sure, Stone would u help Raven dig a hole?"Asked Alpha as he licked the blood from his jaws
"Yes Alpha" Me and Stone reply
Immediately I meet Stone by the prey circle and wander behind the bushes to burry the fresh prey
One paw full of moist soil at a time but we did it. The sun was gleaming in the middle of the shimmering blue sky, I report to Beta that the hole has been dug and requested a soothing swim in the lake she approves the request and I bolt as fast as I can to the cold water lake.

After a swim I get called to go hunting in the forest. We trot along nose high in the air attempting to catch any scent of prey, Breeze gives me a signal to go right and follow the scent of an unusually large mole that had surfaced to gather insects. The unwary mole didn't hear me coming from the bushes behind, locking my jaws around its neck with one small bite it's dead.As I wander back I gather one squirrel and by the time followed there scent they had one skinny squirrel two plump rabbits
"We shall come here more often"Breeze announced
"I agree Breeze, but do u think this is enough?"Questioned Flick
"Yes this is surely enough It would have been better if that deer scent was more recent"Answered Breeze
Trotting through the forest we still kept quiet as we headed to our leader with two rabbits two squirrels and a mole,

That night I feel guilty about Stride only getting a morsel of the rabbit but this is how our pack has been operating for ages, alpha gets largest amount and omega gets the leftovers, Later it's prey sharing time it's been a long day of hunting but this is worth it. I get part of the mole and a squirrel and Strider is left with a couple of morsels of rabbit I guess is better than last night. The moon has been up for awhile now so I sneak of into my den and fall swiftly asleep but all was not peaceful that night.
