Chapter Eight
I will never eat another donut for as long as I live. They were the best donuts I've ever eaten, but, oh dear Lord, never again. I mean twenty four donuts and only two people? You'd think we'd have some self control, but nope. None whatsoever.
"I can't even move. I'm serious. I physically can't move my body." Tyler said.
"I have never felt more fat in my entire life." I chimed in.
We had been groaning on the floor for almost a half hour, regretting ever last bite we took. After about the sixth donut we each had, we thought that was it. But then Tyler got competitive and said he thought he could eat more than I could. So of course, being the mature, almost, adult that I am, I took him up on his challenge.
By the tenth donut I was ready to give up but he was on his eleventh, and I refused to give him another excuse to brag about himself. So I put my big girl panties on and ate the rest. But of course so did he. In reality there really was no winner here. We both lost.
After about an hour of laying on the floor with nothing but regret written on our faces, we finally got up and started to get ready for bed. I went to my suitcase and rummaged through it and grabbed a pair of leggings, some fuzzy socks, and a long sleeve that fell a bit higher than mid thigh. Unlike me, Tyler had just moved from the floor onto the bed, with no motivation to get up and change out of the swimming trunks and t shit he had thrown on when we came back to the hotel room.
Once I was dressed and ready, Tyler still hadn't moved off the bed, so I grabbed the nearest pillow and slammed it onto his stomach.
Groaning he finally got up and looked at me.
"You know you only have one earring on right?" He said as he walked passed me to the restroom.
I quickly brought my hand up to my left ear lobe and noticed, in fact, that my earring was missing. It wasn't a particularly special earring, It was just a really pretty one. It was a black stud rimmed with fake gold diamonds. It made it look like you had your ears stretched out, but they really weren't.
I remember I had gotten them back when I lived in New York. That was probably the only special thing about them. They were one of the few things that was small enough to take with me from the magical place. Bottom line was, I wanted my missing earring back.
"Oh shit! I think it might have fallen out when we went to the pool." I said in realization.
"Just put on another pair of earrings." He said.
"But I really liked them." I pouted.
"Soy it's not like you can call and ask if they could look for them. It's late, plus the pool has been closed all day so they'll know we snuck in there."
"It's fine I'll sneak back in there and look for them myself." I said, pulling on a pair of ugg boots.
"No Sawyer, It's almost midnight, we'll look for them tomorrow."
"And what if tomorrow they open the pool and someone finds it and throws it away or something?"
"If they find it I'm sure they'll take it to lost and found." He said, getting rather irritated.
"I'm gonna go look for them." I said walking toward the door.
"Hold on I'll come with you. I don't want you going all the way down there by yourself."
"I'm not five Tyler. It's fine, I'll be there for fifteen minutes, tops, and if I don't find it I'll come right back up, okay?" I said, putting my hand on his chest to stop him from following me out the door.
