Chapter Ten
"This is ALL your fault, you know that right?"
"I know. That's all I've thought about since I brought her here."
"You should have ran after her idiot. Why did you let her leave like that?"
"I don't know how many times I have to say sorry and blame myself for everything till you get it through your head."
"Well maybe if you weren't such a dumbass then maybe you-"
After the nurse came to check up on me, she gave me pain killers which knocked me for who knows how long. I was half way between being asleep and being awake when I heard Hayden's voice and soon after Tyler's. They had been arguing for the past ten minutes, and in hopes that they would shut up, I pretended I was still asleep. Clearly that backfired tremendously.
"Jesus Crist will you guys shut up?" I said.
"Oh good, you're up. And alive, no thanks to Tyler of course." Hayden said.
"Hayden shut up." Tyler glared.
"Stop! Both of you. It happened, it's done. Over. I'm fine, so let it go." I wanted more than anything to get this whole situation behind me, and back home before Hailey has a chance of finding out what happened. Although, the bruises might give me away.
"Like hell I'm going to let it go. Had this asshole not let you leave, none of this would have happened." Hayden said, looking at Tyler.
"Hayden, honestly, do you really think him forcing me to stay would have made me want to stay any more than I already didn't? I would have left no matter what. It was my fault. I shouldn't have jumped into conclusions in the first place. Besides, had he not come to look for me, I would probably be a lot worse." I explained.
"He's still an asshole." She said under her breath.
"Anyway, has the doctor said when I could leave?" I asked.
"Since you had a pretty bad concussion, they want to keep you here till tomorrow just to make sure everything is okay." Tyler explained.
I had only been in the hospital for a day and I was already feeling frustrated being cooped up in a room with crappy tv and horrible food. And these two fighting was just making things that much more annoying.
"Since Hayden's here, I'm gonna go back to the hotel to shower and change and probably pack up everything so we can leave tomorrow." Tyler said getting up from his chair.
"What time will you be back?" I asked, not wanting him to leave.
"Don't worry I'll be back as soon as I'm done, okay?" He said with a comforting smile.
And with that he walked out the door, leaving me and Hayden alone. No doubt that she was going to yell at me and give me a tediously long speech. As annoying as they were, I was grateful for them. I wasn't usually on the receiving end of those, I was the one actually having to give them.
"He only told me what happened when he got there, so it's your turn to fill in the blank on everything else."
She stared at me waiting for me to start.
"Go! Tell me." She urged.
I reluctantly explained, which seemed to be something I was having to do a lot these days. The only thing I failed to mention was the confession Ty had said to me. I don't know what it was but I didn't want to tell her. I wanted to figure this out on my own. Although that's how I do things most of the time anyway, I knew if I told her she wouldn't understand my reasoning and why I make the choices I make.
