Chapter Twenty Four
I awoke from my blissful daze knowing exactly what had happened just hours ago. As I shifted under the sheets, I came face to face with Aiden. I gazed at his peaceful complexion replaying the events that unraveled just the day before.
I wish I could say I felt different after last night, but I didn't. Physically I did feel different, a bit sore but nothing to unbearable. But mentally and emotionally I felt like the same Sawyer that came here to apologize for her wrong doings.
I wasn't sure if I was supposed to feel divergent just like all the movies and books make it seem. It's kind of like when you pass an important mile stone in your life, the anticipation of the actual event is more exciting than when it actually arrives. Although I wouldn't say last night was dull by any means. I certainly wanted to repeated it, multiple times.
As I sat up from the bed, I felt the ache in my body and quickly regretting getting up. My movements seemed to stir Aiden besides me as he shifted his body in my direction so I lay back down with him.
With the sudden flutter of his eyes in my direction, I saw the faint sleepy smile travel from his mouth to his eyes. That simple act made butterflies in my stomach appear. His smile seemed so genuine, so pure, so unaware of the entire world outside of these walls. I simply couldn't contain my own smile as his grew wider.
"Good morning beautiful." He said, caressing my cheek with his hand.
I gently stroked his arm with the tips of my fingers enjoying our little state of euphoria. "Morning." I replied
He moved closer to kiss me but I quickly backed away. "What?" He asked with worried eyes.
"I am not kissing you with morning breath." I said, as if it wasn't obvious.
He closed his eyes and let out a throaty chuckle.
Now it was my turn to question him. "What?"
He gazed into my eyes cupping my cheek with his soft hand once again and said, "Come here", as he pulled my face towards his and gently pressed our lips together.
It didn't take long for the kiss to deepen but then the sudden realization that I had left my little sister at her friend's house the night before had happen to dawn on me.
"Holy shit." I said, breaking away.
"Was the morning breath that bad?" He asked.
"No dork!", I said, letting out a breathy laugh, "I forgot I left Hailey at Rachel's for a few hours yesterday but I never went to pick her up." I began to get out of bed and look for my clothes that seemed to be scattered everywhere around the floor.
Between the chaos of the boys and making up with Aiden I had completely forgot about Hailey. Can I get the greatest big sister in the world award or what? I was pretty sure Jennifer, Rachel's mom, was going to call child services on me any day now. The woman hated me but she did a good job of hiding it.
I couldn't seem to find my bra anywhere so I opted for just putting my shirt on. As soon as the shirt was over my head I saw Aiden eyeing my chest.
He walked over to me and placed a rough, unexpected kiss on my lips.
"What are you doing?" I asked him as the kiss ended.
"Find your bra because if not I can't guarantee I'll let you leave without a repeat of last night." He said with a cheeky smirk.
I did as he said, oddly liking in-control Aiden.
Once I was fully dressed, I noticed he was as well, looking ready to leave.
