TAMPERED WISHES
By Clixhe
Romance"THERE'S AN URBAN LEGEND which says that anyone who writes and posts his or her wishes on this staircase called Stairway to Dreams Come True, it will come true."
That's right. My friend, Sara just said that to me verbatim.
We are currently standing in front of a big staircase and at the side; the wall was full of post-it notes. The colourful wall was the thing that gets me the most.
I can't pinpoint why but for me, it's beautiful—knowing that all these notes were written by different people with different wishes.
"Urban legend, you say. Do you even know what that means?" I ask her.
She shrugs. "It sounds like a good way to start a sentence."
Nodding in agreement, I chuckle, but my eyes narrow at the sight of this wall.
I think . . . "This looks familiar," I comment.
"Really, it's familiar to you how?" Sara queries with excitement lacing her voice.
"Ah, yes, it looks like the Lennon Wall. You know with the staircase and post-it notes."
It is indeed similar to the Lennon Wall, but the amount of sticky notes on this wall was just like half of that on the Lennon's. Also, it was as if the notes here were organized daily. They were not messy and all around the wall.
I know that because I saw it on one of the photos on my bedroom.
"I don't know what Lennon Wall is," she tells me.
I blink at her ridiculous statement. Wow. "How could you be such a disgrace to this world?"
She rolls her eyes and continues in whatever she's about to say, "Well, I'll get you back on that later. So, let's go back here at SDCT where you can wish for anything."
I ignore the fact that she said 'SDCT', leaving the T that refers to "to". But I get the point; no one wants to say 'STDCT', with emphasis on the first three letters.
"Just post anything and it'll come true?" I queries.
At first, she nods but then it's like she remembers something. "Ah! No! Wait, it'll come true, but it should be humanly possible."
Humanly possible, so it means that it has to be things that are realistic. Huh. Who knew that wish granting walls can have rules?
"If these are all humanly possible wishes, then every student's wish just comes true?"
"Not all. There's also a myth going around that . . . that there are a-altérers," she stutters in a quiet voice. "It's a Japanese—no, French word, by the way. They're the ones who tamper on the wishes."
