You Have a Kid But you're Not Together - Gilinsky

"When are the kids coming back?" My friend, Niomi, asks as we sit at the counter and drink orange juice.

She's come over to catch up, which I have time for since Jack took the kids for the weekend.

After several arguments and even threatening to get the court involved (but when we separated we agreed to handle the kid situation outside of court) we still haven't come up with a schedule.

But he got them this weekend since I had to catch up on work on Saturday.

"Any minute now," I reply, glancing at the clock.

"Have you and Jack figured out a schedule yet?"

"No. He's as much as a lazy ass replying to my texts as he was doing things when we were married," I mutter.

Niomi smirks at me.

"Niomi, he wouldn't bring the kids to school, pick them up from school, make dinner, clean the house, and all he wanted to do was 'work on his music'," I rant.

"But now that he's back with Madison he's always out in public with her," she replies before taking a sip from her glass.

"What?"

"What?"

"He's back with Madison?"

"Yeah, you didn't see?" She questions.

I shake my head and she pulls her phone out.

The front door creaks open and I hear little feet padding against the hardwood floor.

"Mommy!"

"Mommy!"

The two boys run up to me as I stand up, grabbing onto my legs.

"Hi boys," I grin happily, bending down to pull them into a hug.

"Where's Joey, mommy?" Trysten asks about the dog.

I laugh. "He's in the backyard, honey."

The six year old nods and runs out the patio door, Graysen following.

"See, look." Niomi gathers my attention.

I look over her shoulder, seeing the Twitter update account with pictures of Jack and the young brunette.

"Huh."

"What are you 'huh'ing at?" The same boy from the pictures asks from the doorway of my kitchen.

"Nothing important." I give him the side eye as I walk around the counter to pick up a washrag from the sink, swiping some butter off of the counter.

"Whatever," he rolls his eyes, "I was just wondering if we could talk about the schedule with the boys."

"Sure, whatever, I'm already in a bad mood." I set the rag down and swipe some hair out of my face. "Go ahead, you start."

"I want them weekends and you can have them weekdays," he offers.

"Absolutely not-""Why not?"

"I was just about to explain that before you interrupted me," I clench my teeth and he rolls his eyes.

"Do you want me to leave?" Niomi asks awkwardly.

"You can do what you want, Niomi," I say before turning back to my soon-to-be-ex-husband. "The kids are at school all day but on weekends you have all day with them. So I'm think someone can get Sunday-Wednesday and someone else can get Thursday-Saturday since Friday night is kind of a weekend as well."

"This is stupid," Jack exclaims.

"Excuse you?" I raise my eyebrows.

"Why did we even breakup in the first place?"

"Because you never did anything you lazy ass," I shout, picking the rag up from the counter and throwing it at him.

It hits him in the chest and then drops to the ground.

"And now you're dating that hoe!"

"What hoe?"

"Madison! Niomi, show him the articles," I order.

My friend stands up, showing her phone to the brown-eyed man.

"No no, you're getting that all wrong. She just wanted advice on how to fix a fight with her boyfriend," he explains.

"And she couldn't have asked another guy friend? She has a million Jack I know, I watched the episode of Tyler the Hollywood Medium she was on," I holler.

He starts to snicker in laughter.

"You're such a dick," I say, starting to calm down.

"Okay, okay," he slowly stops, "What can I do to show you that I'll help out more?"

I stop to think about it.

"You can have the kids on Thursday-Saturday," I start, "And stay away from the hoe."

"Okay, I can do that," he shifts his feet. "So what are the chances that we can get back together?"

"We'll see how you do," I give him a smile.

He smiles back. "That's understandable."
