I spent the night with Areal, we watched movies and we talked. She talked a lot more though, like she always did.
I wanted to tell her, but soon it would be better. Him and I would be neighbors, she would be in a different house.
She helped me move the next day, she helped me set up the rest of my furniture and decorate. I was in the kitchen when she yelled, I went running to the back bedroom.
"What's wrong?" I asked,
"I think you bought some whore house condo, did you even look inside before you bought it?" She was pointing to the mattress on the floor, the sheets bunched at the bottom, the blood, our blood, dotting the mattress, the condom wrappers on the floor. I was such an idiot
"Oh no, someone must've broken in and done this," I try to lie, but I'm not very good at it.
"This is gross, this needs serious damage control," she grabbed gloves and starting cleaning. I figured I'd leave her to her belief about what happened. I left and started setting up the bathroom,
"Hey B, is there any particular reason your half of the sister necklace was in there?" Of course. Because life just loved to knock me down.
"I thought I lost that, I have no idea, maybe when they were going through my stuff they dropped it." I didn't turn to look at her, but I could tell by her silence she wasn't buying it,
"So then that mess wasn't caused by you and Caden doing it without telling me?!" She was practically screaming.
"You caught me," I said, turning to look at her with the biggest smile.
"You are so dirty girl! I can't believe you didn't tell me!" She handed me my necklace and bounced out of the room. She continued to shout across the condo but the guilt was deafening.
I couldn't take it anymore, it'd kill our friendship, it'd kill her relationship with Xavier, but I couldn't hide this any longer
"Wait, Areal," I sighed and went out to meet her in the living room,
"What's up?" She smiled, waiting for the juicy details. If only she knew..
"You're going to hate me, you're going to really hate me and I'll totally understand," I was waiting for her to sit down,
"What? It's not like you slept with my brother," she rolled her eyes and laughed, but I just bit my lip and stared at her
"Areal..." I said quietly
"No, oh.. that was.. oh no, no, no. You wouldn't! He's like your brother too, you didn't.. " she was sitting now. I apologized until my throat bled, I begged her not to hate him, I begged her not to hate me.
"I just need time, and I need to know one thing," she said and stood up
"Anything," I said.
"Do you love him?" She swallowed. I swallowed.
"I do," I apologized with my eyes, she smiled for a second and then left.
I called Xavier, I had to tell him
"Hey babe, what's up?" He said
"I told her," I folded down and sat in the hallway
"Funny," he said. Unamused.
"I'm not kidding, I couldn't take it. It was eating me alive," I folded my head in between my knees.
"Alright, I'll be over after she comes home, try and do damage control on my side, I need to finish moving anyway," he hung up. Great, now neither of them are happy with me.
