I felt as though I was glowing. Walking on air each step I took towards the map room. I swiftly prepare myself with my shit for the day as fast as I can, hopeful of returning early, to see the newbie.
The beautiful teen had been occupying my mind for the majority of the day, the reminder of the day before making a smile break out on my face.
"What's got you so happy today, Minho?" Micheal, a newer runner, asks as he arrives at the map room.
"Ah, its nothing. I'm just looking fowards to going out there again, y'know?" I sigh, placing on my signature smirk, and turning to the younger boy.
"Yeah, I know what you mean. It makes me feel free." He smiles, and adjusts his running gear.
We both sprint towards the doors and bid eachother goodbye, before running our regular sections.
Minutes pass by, before it becomes hours, and I slump against a wall, pouring the contents of my water bottle in my mouth and all over my neck.
I stare up at the fluffy clouds, smiling as I connect the clouds with different shapes, and chuckling as it reminds me of the brunette greenie in the glade. I couldn't get her out of my head.
But then a scream startles me, and I hurridly collect my runners pack and maps together, sprinting towards the source of the commotion.
I round the corner, and the sight destroys me.
Micheal, bloodied and bruised on the concrete maze floor, a griever crouched above his broken body. He wheezes and coughs, staring over at me as the griever peels away into the setting sun.
I bolt towards him, as tears rim my eyes, "Come on, Micheal. Don't give up now. Stay awake with me." As I lift his half-unconscious body up, and begin my way to the glade.
